Makes me wonder if this is actually the special edition that was in the works, and we all just assumed it was a US set?
Isn’t the 2010 remake cut currently also?

I got this set a while back:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B018E47CO0/

Uncut. So I'll probably hang onto it. This new release looks interesting though.

Yup. The original's cut by nearly three minutes, the remake by forty-odd seconds, and its sequel by nearly two minutes, if I remember correctly.

Zavvi are saying that the original uncut version is included in the boxset if that's true that's a major breakthrough with censorship in this country. https://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/i-spit.../12663601.html

If this is indeed uncut then this could pave the way for other rape/revenge 'nasties' to get a UK release. I'm still waiting for Demented (1980) amongst others.

I’m a rape victim and I’m still against censoring this film, and I don’t expect it to be retraumatising. I really had no issue with Last House on the Left or The Virgin Spring. I don’t think it’s necessarily depicting that can be triggering, but discussing in detail. Mysterious Skin was more of a cathartic emotional rollercoaster.

There’s scarier things than rape revenge out there. Hell, rape revenge is empowering - there’s nothing better than beheading the dick in Last House on the Left tbh.

Confusingly the description here labels this a Blu-ray, but the packaging says it's a DVD box set...

Why was Celestial Agent banned? I thought this user was on this website for a long time and seen as reliable?

Made a political joke and I had no idea that wasn’t allowed. Only a one sentence thing, made in context to a film, and it got a couple of upvotes, didn’t provoke any thread derailment or controversy. Of course, banning politics is silly when every film is political and every actor, director, producer, studio have some kind of political stance. And if I was a mod, I would just delete the post and not hand out a weeklong ban. It’s also a case where do I want to stick around on this site if bans are handed out for such ludicrous reasons?

But hey, I must be doing something right if it takes half a decade until I’m banned for the first time. Although I’ve had some posts deleted by mods before like in the Weird Science thread.

Then why is Love Camp 7 STILL banned? There's NOTHING harmeful in it.

Because apparently incredibly dated and non-explicit non-consensual BDSM is worse than a prolonged graphic rape.

Although in actuality, I believe the report stated that they found the sexual violence in LC7 was purely for titilation purposes.

The quote from the classification is "Because LOVE CAMP 7 is largely comprised of scenes of non consensual sexual activity, including rape, presented in a manner that is intended to arouse viewers, its central concept is unacceptable and the sexually abusive material it contains too pervasive for cuts to be an effective solution."

And here's a further quote from the board meeting:

"The film was recently submitted for classification for VOD release. Given its status as a previously rejected work it was viewed by the entire Compliance team and certain members of the Policy team before referral to the Board.

The Board noted that there are a number of prolonged scenes of non-consensual sexual activity, including rape, in Love Camp 7 , in many cases featuring a focus on female nudity. Such scenes are frequently gratuitous, both in terms of length and detail, going some way beyond what is required by the narrative, and in some cases perpetuating harmful rape myths. These issues were considered in relation to the BBFC’s 2019 Guidelines consultation, which found depictions of sexual violence to be of particular concern to the public.

The Board discussed the extent to which the film’s datedness and risibility limits its impact, and considered the film’s likely appeal and audience. It was observed that, while aspects of the film are dated, the sequences of sexual violence and abuse are not. It was also noted that while the film is different in many respects to modern pornography, its close and repeated focus on nudity means the sequences of sexual violence and abuse still have the potential to arouse.

The Board concluded that because that as Love Camp 7 is largely comprised non-consensual sexual activity, including rape, presented in a manner that is intended to arouse viewers, its central concept is unacceptable and the sexually abusive material too pervasive for cuts to be an effective solution. Accordingly, the Board agreed that the BBFC should refuse to classify Love Camp 7 ."

So no political jokes are allowed. Okay. Probably why Aclea got banned although happy to say he rightfully deserved it for being an a-hole (his usual self I mean).

Updated now on the BBFC website.

https://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/i-sp...8#relatedWorks

Surprise surprise, it is CUT. Interestingly, it's now only cut by 1m 41s, which is arguably an improvement over the near 3 mins previously removed.

But a cut film is a cut film...

Sorry, Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment, we all know it's not your fault, but I doubt many of us will bother with this release.

A pity.

At least it's slowling moving towards being UNCUT. Wonder how many more submitions it'll take till it's passed with a clean bill of health.
