Arrow have used MGM masters before.

Sorry to bump the thread but just thought I’d let everybody no that The Fly is seeking for a fiver on Amazon. Better be quick before Disney pull the plug on 20th Century Fox physical releases.

This movie seems like a prime candidate for Arrow to me. It's their bag and they've been knocking it outta the park as of late.

Unfortunately it's with Fox/Disney. Scream Factory has it in a The Fly Collection box set.

I was fortunate enough to get the stand-alone Scream release from the box set on eBay as I'm not a fan of any of the other movies. Sadly it may be the best physical release we'll ever get.

Is the stand alone OOP? I don’t see it anywhere online.

You'd have to get it from someone on eBay selling their disc individually from the box set. All discs come in their own standard sized cases so each movie technically has it's own blu-ray release through Scream

I thought the Scream Factory box set disk of the Cronenberg film was the same as the standard release from 20th Century Fox?

I just finished looking this up, myself. Seems like it's largely the same video transfer, but a good amount of added interviews and a commentary.

I own the Fox blu-ray so I was relieved I'm not missing a vastly different transfer. I'd still like to own the Scream release but the box set isn't a big priority for me.

The Scream release has a new interview with Mel Brooks and one extra commentary not on the Fox release.

“The Fly” ‘58 is the exact same disc as the Studio Classics disc. In addition to couple of new extras, Scream’s disc includes the original Dolby Stereo mix for Croenberg’s “The Fly”.

In terms of video, the Scream has slightly better compression and a higher bitrate.

I see. But same transfer?

In that case, I guess I'm happy sticking to this version with this art card.

[EDIT] sorry, just saw the above messages specifying the minor upgrades the Shout disk actually did receive. What a shame, that will be the best we get. I wish Criterion could have put out a release. All their other Cronenberg releases have been top notch.

You also get the original stereo track on the Scream disc.

I also picked up the Scream release on Ebay- there are plenty of folks that break these sets up. I also managed to get the only Friday the 13th movies that I wanted from THAT set. The SF extras and original audio were worth the upgrade to me and I sadly have to agree this will probably be the last release for this wonderful movie.
