Thanks to Steel76 at Cult Labs for passing that on.

It's all sounding good, isn't it? I suppose there is the possibility that the original negative hasn't been looked after as well as the secondary sources, or that they're being fed a line from the licensor, but I'm quite hopeful and eagerly looking forward to see how it turns out. That last comment seems surprisingly candid, understandable considering LVR Video Recording Laboratory's work for Arrow, but Cinetecca di Bologna did an amazing job with Demons.
Urm BU blu is from the camera negative.
Infact heres a short video BU made about the restoration.

Beat me to it. Not sure where Arrow is getting their info, but Blue Underground commissioned a painstaking digital restoration of the film from its camera negative a few years ago (as evidenced in that video they made).

The result was nothing short of miraculous.

Not to mention it was done under the supervision of the cinematographer Sergio Salvati.

This is quite an interesting turn of events. I would not say BU has been very truthful in its proclaiming of being taken from the original camera negative. The back of the BU Zombie says under license from Jerry Gross, who was the original US distributor.
It is possible that video is less than truthful and a source other than the OCN was used. Especially with what Variety is saying.
Deep Red was a newly minted master taken from the original camera negative, when in fact its derived from a HD transfer dating back to 2004! Same situation goes for Inferno.

This weird situation happened before with Media Blasters and BU both proclaiming to have the rights for the DVD.

All this is just speculation, but it is certainly strange.
So it will be interesting to compare these releases when the Arrow comes out.

Maybe its cause
a. Not watching this clip on HD tv, but screen at work
b. Untrained eye? I love Blu Ray and can easily see the improvement it offers, although I am still happy with a load of my DVDs through an up scaling player

But was there a real difference in the before and after of the shark scene the guy was watching on his tv? Looked the same?

BU claimed that their Deep Red blu was from the camera negative. 'Screenshot scientist' argentophiles showed the claim to be false, and that it came from a 2004 master. Still the best looking current version though. So I'm not sure if we should put too much stock in Blue Underground claims. I haven't bought this Fulci film in HD yet, I heard that it was a problematic dnr release. Hopefully the Arrow version will best it, I like the film a lot.

Spend an extra £1 and get the steelbook edition (same price at Play & Amazon but Play has superior steelbook packaging)

The regular Blu-ray edition is only £11 at HMV, and despite usually price matching HMV, Amazon don't seem to want to. Which is strange because I read it was £11 at some point on Amazon.

Yes but the steelbook art is uglier IMO.

And the package offers nothing more.

Delayed a week until December 3rd for "final checks"

I would rather them get this right and release it when it's ready, but frustrating all the same.

They were planning to release it region free but they made an announcement a few weeks ago saying the rights holders have forced them to region lock them.

It only has the standard and the steelbook, the LE is exclusive to Arrow's site.

Part of the reason for the delay is that they're now offering multiple branching titles, whether you want Zombi 2, Zombie or Zombie Flesh Eaters, you get the original title cards.
