AMC was actually part of the pilot testing when they first came out. In fact they used my market and I was a part of the pilot program when it was like $15 a month. They continue using my market here in Denver to test newer features, which brings me to my next point.

I don't even need the debit card to watch movies here in Denver. Tickets are e-tickets here. I simply go to the app, go to the theater of my choosing (All AMC's in the area show up) select and movie, and pick a seat. I then go to the ticket booth and have them scan my barcode and I'm in!
Will they also scan Regal/AMCStubs card to get the points?

with me no, because of the advanced ticketing. but if you are using the debit card, yes you can also get stub points and credit.

Am i dumb, or is the list of companies that accept this posted nowhere? Almost positive my shitty local theater chain wont accept this, but I'd be cool to have that verified.

I signed up yesterday but it wasn't until overnight that I got the confirmation email. I kept submitting and it never confirmed so hopefully I don't have 10 memberships now.

Also- I have no idea what theaters in my area I can use. I was told once I signed up I would be able to see the list but now when I log in it says I need a moviepass card to see the theaters.

So far not the best user experience.

No- there is no list and there are page after page of complaints about this. I read somewhere that once you sign up you will see a list of participating theaters. Not the case. When I look for theaters in the app it says I need to moviepass card to see the list.

Crazy- I just signed up for a service that I don't know much about and have no idea where I can or if I can use their product. Would never normally signup for a company like this but being that it involves a passion of mine I just couldn't resist.

When I opened the app, only Studio Movie Grill's in my area pop up. It says the other locations will pop up once I receive my card.

In order to use moviepass, you have to have the card and be in the area of that theater. Once the app notices you are close to the theater it will pop up, and you can select a movie to see. Then they load the debit card with the funds.

Some theaters show up in the app ahead of time because they can be used with e-tickets and don't require the moviepass card at all.

"in the area of that theater".

What are we talking? 10 miles? 1 mile?

https://www.moviepass.com/theaters/zip/14224

use this address to see what theaters are available. Just change the zip code at the end to yours.
I got this off the FAQ section of moviepass. Not sure who it originally came from though.

Like outside the box office... it's the point of the service, they don't want you checking into a theater, getting the money added to the card, and then using the money for something else.

That sounds like an incredibly elementary system. But, alright.

Can you buy advance tickets with MoviePass?
Would it count as your movie for the day you buy it, or your showtime day?

I still can't do anything with the app, and whenever I click "theaters" I get nothing other than a suggestion to change my location. So I did just to try it out, and even then I can't get anything. The website says my account/card is activated, but I thought I didn't need the physical debit card to use the service?

They've charged my Paypal for $10 so they got my money, I'm gonna use the damn thing for at least a month lol

Apparently this works with Alamo Drafthouse, which will 100% be worth it for that theater alone.

Just looked at that backdoor link for the list. 31 theaters in my area accept it, including the dollar theater/second run chain. Which is kind of amusing.

Yea I saw that too, my "Cheap" theater accepts it as well... not sure why I would ever go there now when I can see first run movies for the same price...

I'm not even going to contemplate signing up until their website issues are worked out. But...it's obviously very tempting.
