I read an interview where Kring suggests that the upcoming series will have a definite ending, which also bodes well. Whether or not this gets a second season and goes downhill again, it should have a pretty self-contained first season, unlike Season 1 of Heroes, which fizzled into anti-climactic climax and into a cliffhanger.

Plus, he mentioned something about how its good that they will have filmed all the episodes by the time this airs, as they won't be swayed by fan reaction in order to keep characters on the show. This tells me that they are willing to retire characters that have outlived their usefulness, including killing main characters off, which isn't exactly necessary for a good show, but would make sense considering the premise of Heroes Reborn.
They seem to have spun bringing some of the old characters back as well, at least judging by the trailer. They naturally would be "hiding", and having some of them eventually coming in to inevitably help the new characters makes sense.

I was going to watch this anyways, but that still was a good trailer.

Hate that you can only watch the prequel mini episodes on a cell phone or tablet.

I've decided to rewatch the Blus of the original series before the premiere next month. (Although some seasons I'm watching for the first time since they aired... season 4 is still in the shrink wrap.) I wish I started earlier though; I have to watch 1-2 episodes a day to finish on time. Hopefully seasons 3 and 4 aren't as bad as I remember.

This is just my opinion:

I'm not sure how true this is,
[Show spoiler]so take this with a grain of salt but according to an article in Deadline: Claire Bennet is dead in the Heroes revival, Heroes Reborn. I know they couldn't get Hayden back since she's busy with Nashville and all, but I think that's kind of lazy storytelling. Just become she can't commit to Heroes Reborn, Tim Kring decides to off her, seems kind of lazy, IMO. Besides, isn't her character supposed to be like Wolverine, where she can automatically heal herself. You never know, Hayden might change her mind or her schedule might open up and she decides to make a cameo or something. To just kill her off, seems lazy and trying to take the easy way out for storyline purposes, similar to what they did with Sara in Prison Break in season 3.

Kring also blamed Heroe's decline in creativity and viewship on having too many episodes per season. He said "Our [episode] order was for 23 the first year, then 26 in the second year, 25 in the third year. We were facing a mathematical difficulty, an uphill battle." The 26 in the second year is a false statement, season 2 only had 11 episodes due to the writer's strike. Again, I feel like Kring is being lazy and isn't owning up to his faults. I believe you can tell a serialized storyline with 20 plus episodes and still be good. Examples include Buffy, Angel, Arrow, Lost, The X Files, etc. Yes, each one of those shows I've mentioned had great seasons and they also had terrible seasons. But it goes to show, a good serialized storyline that spans over 20 episodes can be done. Kring was able to accomplish it with the first season of Heroes so it can be done but I just feel like he isn't taking ownership and blaming it on superficial details.

But don't get me wrong, I liked Heroes (the first season obviously, the other three seasons I can take it or leave it) and I will tune into Heroes Reborn. I saw the trailer and I definitely see some good potential and the vibe I got from it was X Men 2 and 3. But if Heroes Reborn flops, I hope Kring doesn't blame it on lame excuses like he's doing now. But I do have high hopes for Heroes Reborn, and I see some great potential, nonetheless.

Claire can be killed, as proven in the first season. Just have to remove or up-struct her brain.
[Show spoiler]Early in the season where that boy was trying have his way with her.
And the whole save the cheerleader, save the world thing...
[Show spoiler]She died int he future, after Sylar examined her brain for her powers.

With Under The Dome, Falling Skies and The Following being cancelled it looks like Heroes Reborn will once again claim it's crown of the stupid and absurd.

‘Heroes: Reborn’ premiere brings everything you expect and more

Heroes: Reborn premieres in just under two weeks, and after viewing the first episode, we’re positive you’ll all want to be tuning in for a return we think is epic, extraordinary, and, of course, evolved.

Heroes: Reborn takes place four years after the finale of Heroes when the world has come to know about people with special powers. They’ve been named Evos, short for Evolved Humans, and now as we begin our journey again with Noah Bennett, they’re being outcast and hunted.

The premiere begins with the terrorist attack that started it all: A three day summit was taking place at Primatech that was meant to bring Evos and non-Evos together, but when a mysterious explosion kills hundreds of attendees, the world places the blame on Evos, causing all of those who have powers to go into hiding. The pilot explores what happened to the people who survived the attack, and what that attack meant for those Evos who fled.

That’s about as much as we’ll tell you about the plot itself, but what we can tell you is that Heroes: Reborn legitimately feels like the old show we know and love. There are references to several characters from the past series like Claire Bennett, the Haitian, Mohinder Suresh and more. Tim Kring, creator of the show, went out of his way to make you feel like this was the same show you watched several years ago, and he succeeded.

The mysteries they’ve built this series are also just as deep, if not deeper, than the entire “save the cheerleader, save the world” thread they had going on with Heroes. This time it’s much bigger than just one girl. It’s going to take saving several people all over the world to stop what Heroes: Reborn is touting as the big bad this season.

And the powers? The powers are fantastic! One of our favorite things about Heroes was finding people with new powers that haven’t been seen before. We’re not going to spoil you and reveal which characters have which powers, but we can tell you that you’re going to be just as fascinated with the abilities, and more importantly, the people with those abilities.

After watching the two hour premiere, we find ourselves already attached to the cast of new characters like Robbie Kay’s Tommy Clarke, Ryan Guzman’s Carlos Gutierrez, and of course Zachary Levi’s Luke Collins. Not to mention seeing Jack Coleman kick some serious ass as Noah Bennet. These characters are complex, layered individuals that are fighting not only an external struggle with those they come against, but an internal struggle that makes them question who they are. And this is just the first episode!

Since Heroes: Reborn has done such a great job keeping this series a mystery, that’s all we want to say about the premiere. Heroes was easily our favorite sci-fi drama, and Heroes: Reborn brings back what we all missed and then some, so you have to catch it when it airs on September 24.

I felt like Dark Matters gave away a bit too much of the upcoming Reborn story line specifically with Renatus.
