Nope. Have the Kino's. I'm considering buying the German edition shown in my previous post.
I didn't find out about MoC's 90th Anniversary Limited Edition box-set until it was sold out. That's the edition I really want. Last edited by Richard--W; 09-04-2018 at 05:42 AM. |

I just ordered my last Lang films from MoC and WB archives, which almost completes my Lang on Bluray collection. Missing: Cloak and Dagger. Besides that, I think I have everything available from US/UK except his first 3 films. About 20 BDs. Very happy.
Note: His first 3 movies are available in the Kino box set. Did not want that set, so I will have to wait until they become available from another distributor. Not aware of these being available in BD from US/UK (though I have some of these in DVD): Return of Frank James, Human Desire, Fury, Liliom, Blue Gardenia, Der Tiger von Eschnapur and Das indische Grabmal, Rancho Notorious, 1000 eyes of Dr Mabuse, House by the River, Moonfleet, American Guerrilla in Phillipines, Clash by night. So still room for growth! Last edited by filmlover22; 09-04-2018 at 05:15 PM. |

Does anyone own this out-of-print 3-disc edition published in Germany by Warner Brothers?
is it the same as the 90th Anniversary Edition? does it contain more than one edit of the film? can you comment on the transfers etc? English friendly? English intertitles? Last edited by Richard--W; 09-04-2018 at 05:55 PM. |

I'd love Fury. I'd guess that'd be WAC.

Good news.
The Eschnapur films are a big step toward completing Fritz Lang's films on blu-ray. Human Desire (1954) is on the way, too. Now if only someone put out Fury (1937), You and Me (1938), An American Guerilla In the Philippines (1950), House By the River (1950), Rancho Notorious (1952), Clash By Night (1952), The Blue Gardenia (1953), Moonfleet (1955) and most importantly both versions of his last and final Mabuse thriller The 1,000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (1960). The latter is out in Europe but it's not English friendly. |

I’ve never been that big a fan of Fritz Lang’s american movies, but recently I saw Man Hunt (which I had never seen before) and liked it a lot. Unlike most of Lang’s Hollywood movies, which tend to come across as Hollywood movies that only happen to be directed by Lang, Man Hunt comes across as a Fritz Lang movie, that only happens to be produced by Hollywood

Can't believe I'm just discovering this thread now. I've been getting into Lang through his film noir contributions and after watching both Ministry of Fear and Scarlet Street within a couple weeks of each other, I was absolutely blown away. Where had these movies been all my life? How had I missed out? Who was this director and how is he not being spoken of in the same reverent language as Alfred Hitchcock or Billy Wilder?
Since then, I've devoured a number of his other film noir flicks. In order of preference: The Big Heat, The Woman in the Window, While the City Sleeps, Secret Beyond The Door, and Beyond A Reasonable Doubt (easily the least of this list). And I've still got Human Desire, Man Hunt, Hangmen Also Die!, You Only Live Once, and M in the queue waiting to be watched. I'm already thinking about his silent German films predating M and wondering where to start on those. I'm assuming Metropolis but curious if anyone would argue a different film as the best entry point for exploring his earlier, more fantasy-laden pictures. |

M served as my initiation into the world of Fritz Lang. The first time I saw it
was on PBS TV. But I recommend starting with The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933). Lang was white-hot brilliant between 1927 and 1933. The silents are in this cost-effective box-set: ![]() My favorite Lang silent is actually Spione (1928) which has to be experienced to be believed. No description does it justice. |

It's second only to Metropolis, which just fills me with awe whenever I see it. What's especially noteworthy about it is that we are now living 92 years after it was made, and it speaks directly to today's society and economy and wealth inequality. |
