I wish I'd never heard about rusting steels. I've been trying to watch a Blu ray and all I've been thinking is whether or not to sell off my steelbooks and buy the standard amaray releases.

Really stressing me out.

Dont worry about them ,just enjoy as are. They are a treat to own.

I myself would just like to see a step up in qaulity for keeping them for the longer term with no worries.

Also a bit less fragile picture surface wise against scratching.

Be a no worry thing if prices were a bit more down to earth. Why limit something like T2 etc to 2000 for instance, why not epen ended.

Best SN

ps Rambling on is a good place to go for ideas.

So, how long until 4K remastered Steelbooks start pouring out of retailers? That'll suck if it's anywhere in the near future.

4K is just a marketing effort right now and not much more. I'm not worried about it.

Will only get proper 4k disks at the end of this year I reckon. Until then I'm find with the 1080p stuff I have.

Default How easy/hard is it to take out the inner plastic of a steelbook?

For example, if I wanted to get The Evil Dead steelbook (1981) and be able to put in both the main movie disc and the limited edition bonus disc from the original print run, is it difficult to go out swapping the inner one disc holder for a 2 disc one?

A follow up question would be: what's an inexpensive 2 disc steelbook (one disc on the left, one on the right) that I could pick up to use the inside of?

Thanks all!

I thought it was pretty easy. Never did until recently. Just watched a video on YouTube and followed it no sweat (don't remember which one, just did a search). Only took a few minutes

Popping out the 2 Steel plates is pretty easy. You can use a thin knife or something. The only "hard" thing would be swapping the spines. There are tutorials on how to do it on Youtube. Doesnt look to difficult but requires a bit of time and patience (i havent done it myself)

The steel plates are actually more awkward than the spine now. I spent ages trying to take the plates off of the recent Jurassic Park (was adding the 3D disc). Dunno if Scanavo have changed something but it was really tight together.

I dunno if they make 2 disc trays with a disc on each side. Usually 2 discs go on the same side, with the other side only being used for 3/4 disc sets.

United Kingdom Kick Ass & Inglorious Basterds Canadian Steelbooks

Hey guys Im looking at grabbing these two from amazon.ca as I prefer the artwork compared the the UK counterparts.

Does anyone know if they are region free at all and will play in a UK BDplayer?

Here is some examples guys of these two beauties

Default Thanks

Thanks for the help guys, its a shame Kick Ass is region locked. I deff think the Canadian release of Inglorious Basterds looks the best out of all the releases I have seen.

region free players are cheap enough that is worth having one along with the main player

I bought Target's Django Unchained steelbook and it has the hooks for a tray. As I already have two of the three retailer exclusive bonus discs, getting a double-sided tray would be real useful. Does anyone know where I could buy one?

Default ebay Scam

Sorry - don't know where else to post this...

I've just been scammed on ebay for a steel I won at auction from a user called frozen_elsa. It seems this person has also sold a number of Guardians of the Galaxy steels (as well as a couple of PS4s) and taken the money and run - there's a flood of negative feedback from the last few days. Has anyone else here been done by this vermin?
