Looks like generic suprrnatural movie #27 for the year.
This. I doubt this film will find an audiance.

Plus Anya looks way nicer as a brunette.

The trailer makes it seem way more horror than superhero movie. Could be decent, but as an X-Men related movie I'm not sold.

If it's adapting the Demon Bear Saga as initially rumored it should be scary like this.

Wow...didn't expect this.. very excited. I love that this looks nothing like anything I have seen before in this genre. First Deadpool, then Logan and now this.

Yeah I'm feeling this. My gut is telling me this trailer was just the tip of the iceberg. As we get closer to April we will see some clips with them using their powers and really teaming up. I could be wrong, but that's where I'm at on this now.

I'm down for anything horror. Plus a new direction in this superhero market is quite exciting.

This is definitely a straight up Claremont/Sienkiewicz New Mutants movie and not the later Liefeld Cable and superheroes like the title became later on. I'm intrigued to see where it goes and if it gets more people to check out Bill Sienkiewicz's amazing art, even better.

It looks great. Love that they embraced a darker spin on the mutants. We get Superhero Sci-fi with the traditional X-Men films, Comedy with Deadpool, and now Horror with the New Mutants. At this point, it looks to be a cross between X-Men with Nightmare on Elm St. 3: Dream Warriors. If you’re familiar with the comics, it’s supposed to based on the Demon Bear story. I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t show any of the kids using their powers, but this is only a teaser, so hopefully they’re just saving something for the full trailer later… or maybe the movie itself.

I like that's it different. Obviously it's a teaser.

But I'm interested. Actually based on everything I've seen and the comic book movies coming out next year, this has jumped up for me although because we haven't gotten trailers for some of the other ones.

This looks fantastic! Fox continues to re-invent the genre.

Ialways laugh when I hear people crying that Marvel doesn't own the rights to X-Men. Why would you want that? They would all just end up being more generic films in their episodic film series. We would never get something like this from Marvel!

I hear more that Marvel should get FF back than X-Men.

Looks good. I've been waiting for more comic book movies to be made in different style of genres. Brings a fresh take which I and many others are looking forward to.

There is plenty of room in the field to support Marvel style, DC style and Fox style comic book movies and whatever other indie comic book movies will appear in the future. I'm glad that they are branching out and are not just trying to copy one another.

Cheers,
CC-

Seems the trailer has been divisive with fans. Of course, most of the MCU-lovers/Fox-haters were already looking for a reason to criticize it, but there seems to be a genuine portion of the New Mutants comic book fanbase that wanted a more traditional superhero take on the characters and another that totally gets where this film is going and embraces it. I definitely think the film will strike a better balance between horror and superhero than what we're seeing here, but what this trailer is attempting to sell us on right now is the teen horror aspect -- especially after the success of "It" -- and the idea that not all comic book superhero movies need to be cut from the same cloth and they can expand the genre by combining it with others. I love it!

I doubt Warlock or Lockheed will be in this one.

There's a stuffed dragon to represent Lockheed as an easter egg in the trailer.

It's real quick flash of the scene at the 1:39 mark in the trailer. You can see better in this breakdown video where the guy points it out at the 5:29 mark.

OH! I see it now, lol! Well, maybe if they ever do a sequel, it can be more of a traditional sci-fi horror and introduce the real Lockheed and Warlock. That is if Warlock is really not in this anyway. I'm really having troubling imagining Warlock being in a movie like this. He would be very out of place with this tone.

Just had a weird thought... What if Warlock is the Demon Bear? He's a shape-shifting alien trying to relate and communicate, and maybe he's trying to psychically connect with Dani Moonstar, but her nightmares, laced with memories of Native American ghost stories she's heard as a child, are causing Warlock to manifest as the Demon Bear. (?)
