It's a shame Katheryn Winnick isn't getting any recognition. She has martial arts experience to boot. Seems like a perfect fit to me.

Ironically the actress that got the part of Domino, Zazie Beetz, had to beat out Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the auditions for that role. They auditioned different ethnicities to get the best actress for the part regardless of their likeness to the comic counterpart.

It seems that it's becoming common of racebending white characters with black actors or asian characters with white actors.

I'd rather see Batgirl than Oracle, given how screwed up Batman is at the moment, but I guess that would raise more questions and they probably want some excuse for Barbara hating Harley.

Hadn't heard of Jurnee Smollett-Bell before and didn't think I'd seen her in anything, but just read she was Michelle's friend in Full House! (And also the girl from Eve's Bayou).



Anyway, I'm not too bothered by the change in ethnicity. When they announced the lineup of characters a few weeks ago, it seemed clear they were largely chosen for diversity and they already have a blonde Caucasian actress in the cast (Margo Robbie).

As a fan of Huntress, Mary Elizabeth Winstead should make a fine Helena.

More pandering and ruining character origins. I'm so tired of race swapping! Imagine if a black character was made white? Oh the outrage it'd get. Domino in D2 bugged me because they did it there too! It's like oh, there's not enough race to choose from so let's change it.
