At least The Golden Voyage of Sinbad looks to be from the same master TT used and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad will be a brand-new 4K remaster. Fortunately, I still have my TT disc of Eye so that'll be my go-to version when I want to watch the film. Sucks for those who don't have the TT or Australian discs and want the best presentation available though. |

Well that sucks for them. I've probably made aware I can deal with it but it's a shame they don't have the newest master at their disposal as they were advertising it.
Are Sony the only company that have done this semi-regularly? (with the Body Double example posted earlier in the thread) and are there other examples. |

I don't know what's going on here (obviously the usual internet rubbish), so some people have decided that the Indicator release of Tiger is the older transfer, based on...nothing. The TT is dimmer & flatter, so of course it must the newer transfer. God save us from armchair experts.

What nonsense. The evidence is there and my eyes see it.
If you prefer the Indicator then good for you. |

If your post addresses Cinemascope (I'm assuming it does, but I have this particular troll on ignore), keep in mind that he is the same guy who - aggressively and illogically - sung the praises of the awful El Dorado disc.
If Sony supplied the wrong master by mistake, what is the likelihood of a replacement program? (I still have my TT disc, though I had to take it off my Amazon seller list; fortunately it hadn't been purchased in time.) |

I'm perhaps among the minority in that I much prefer the looks of the Indicator disc. The important thing for me is the colour (as I said earlier) is a vast improvement. I just can't get over the dimness of the TT pics. Different spokes different folks though I guess.
I sincerely doubt laziness had anything to do with it on Indicators part though - every single release of theirs thus far has been excellent, both in terms of PQ and extras. It's clear that care has been taken with all of them. I don't think there will be a replacement programme. Truth be told, I don't think there has any real need to be at this point. The transfer is still far from unwatchable and it's not really a 'problem' or 'error' so to speak. |

Very true. If an error (the wrong master being supplied) did occur, the blame doubtless lies with Sony.

If they just made the best with what they received then that's a bummer, but if they advertised Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger as being from a 4K scan/2K remaster and are instead offering an old HD telecine then that is an issue and something needs to be done.
Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of this soon and any issues/questions are resolved and answered. |

Don't have this ordered yet, but man that's a shame about Eye of the Tiger. Such an odd mistake that hopefully gets fixed. Yes, it would be nice if the 2K restoration Twilight Time used was brighter and more colorful, but the old DVD master that Indicator used is artificially so. Something in the middle would be best, but what makes my preference easy is that the TT is easily more natural. The Indicator has the qualities of an old master: boosted contrast, edge enhancement, blown-out whites (the flames are the prime example). Also what looks to be worse compression. The fact that Golden Voyage is the same restoration TT used and the back of the Indicator box indicates they intended to use the newer restorations should be clear evidence if the caps aren't enough already.
I own the TT discs of the sequels and the U.S. BD of 7th Voyage, but I was looking to grab this set cause it'd look nicer on the shelf and because of the additional content. The new 4K restoration of 7th Voyage made it a no-brainer. But now I'm hesitant. I'm wondering if I should just wait for the single release of 7th Voyage. Eh, it's such a gorgeous box set I might still get it, I was probably going to keep my TT discs anyway for the cover art (more so Golden Voyage). |

No representative of Indicator has come out and said it, but it's obvious if you compare the two on caps-a-holic.

Edit: I might be confused by your wording here. I'm assuming you're referring to the fact that Eye of the Tiger was supposed to be the 2K resto used by TT. |

I knew I shouldn't have sold my Australian box set
Now I have to buy it again ![]() Any word from Indicator on this yet? My buddy sent them a email earlier but no reply. I still have a few days before my set ships from Amazon UK - I would hate to cancel & lose my preorder price if this is gonna be delayed & fixed or if they offer a replacement disc. |
