Thanks for the link! That was fast. I'm sure the price will go down as well.

It'll go down. Once it hits approx £35 I'm definitely in for this. While the Australian set can be picked up cheaper and also contains Jason and the Argonauts I'd rather support a UK company with a so far excellent track record than import.

Would qualify as one of the dumbest art design decisions of 2017 if it isn't.

Pretty sure that's a belly band, so yeah, you'll need to remove it to get the discs out.

Oh, I'll be removing it to throw it away!

I love releases that have little or no packaging text - the MoC steelbook of Island of Lost Souls is still my favorite cover design ever, and I've had it on display for several years. A great conversation piece.

I thought this was a pretty neat addition to the newsletter from PH today:

Although it's advertised as region-free, I note Amazon UK lists this as PAL.

Any guess as to the viewability of the extras? UK Doctor Who releases are region-free -- excepting the extras which require a region-free player.

The phrase 'Restored from the original negatives' sounds promising. The 7th Voyage of Sinbad is currently available on a 2008 Sony Blu-ray and looks pretty good for its age and the technology back then.

Sounds like Indicator/Powerhouse is by-passing the sources used for the Sony Sinbad and the TT Sinbads. I hope they deliver! This should be a visual feast!

The Australian set does not include 4k transfers of the Sinbad films nor the book nor many of the new bonus features.
Its currently about a tenner cheaper than the Indicator set.
Its £59.99 on Amazon but I expect Amazon will price match Indicator at £40 although I'm not sure it will go as low as £35 before release.

Its a limited edition so delaying purchase might be a mistake although 6000 should last for a while

Does anyone here own the us blu of 7th voyage of sinbad? Trying to decide if I should flip it before I get this one. Will have to look at the extras on my disc when I get home today.

You don't need a region free player to watch the Dr Who extras. You need to ensure your setup will cope with 50hz material although I would expect all the new bonus features to be in HD anyway.
Any material you cannot watch on your tv would be playable on a Bluray drive in your computer.

Amazon use the term PAL for lots of listings but the term is as meaningless in the world of HD as the term NTSC.

Has Indicator encoded SD extras in PAL before? Or NTSC? That would likely tell him which these will be, assuming there are SD extras included.

Just because it says "restored from original negatives" doesn't mean they are NEW restorations. 99 to 1 they are the same masters used for the US releases. From what I know, every Indicator release has been from previously released masters.

Even if its not all 3 and only one it still means that one won't be the same as the US disc because Indicator specifically delayed the March release for this set to wait for an unspecified number of new 4k transfers.

And with all the new bonuses its likely none will be clones of the old discs entirely

I would think if they do port over any existing SD bonuses they will stay in the original 60hz format- no need to reformat as all UK gear is 60hz compatible anyway.
