They could've went back in and fine tuned Geralt's run animation with the upgrade, agreed. They had full access to all the old coding and assets.

My no screen effects mod isn't working on the new version. It's not something I can get over. Last played this in the rain about a week ago, and now that I'm back there are the super idiotic droplets on the screen. When it doesn't rain, I will have to deal with the super idiotic constant dry moisture, like glasses that haven't been cleaned in days. Just put it in the menu finally, shit!

I also noticed the slightly dated animations but have had no problem getting back into this after 6 years. The world still looks lush with those shaking trees and the low sun lighting often making this suitably gorgeous and atmospheric. The quick select of powers is also a game changer in combat which I'm very much enjoying and all of the quests are just so nicely written that I can see myself playing the whole thing again.

Turned that off before I posted. Super stupid big water droplets are still there. Someone told me yesterday screen effects gets rid of the constant dry moisture on the screen, but keeps the fresh water droplets, toxicity effects, mud on the screen if a water hag throws it at you and a few others. The option conflicts with the mod, which is why it doesn't work anymore.

I see.

I agree the mud on screen is annoying. I didn’t notice water being bothersome, just that silly dirty screen effect when the sun hits the camera a certain way. So I turned that off in graphic options & it worked for my “dirty screen sunlight” complaint.

It's pure shit, but some will mind more than others. Yeah, the sun hitting the camera a certain way is what I mean by the dry moisture. Like glasses that are never cleaned. I hope more developers realize how stupid it is to smear the picture like there is a film camera lens between the world and the player. Funny thing is that most filmmakers would do everything they could to minimize ugliness like that.

Ok

I’ve been in that exact weather situation on PS5. What you showed I believe is giant water droplets correct? That isn’t preset on PS5 at all no matter what your settings are.

Edit,

Forgot to mention there are a bunch of updates for PC players that haven’t been released yet. Alls I know is it’s CDPR’s Priority over Console players to roll out these updates.

I read that this game supports cross platform save on all platforms now not just PC/Switch? so now I can use the same save file on both ps5 and steam (deck)

cross platform saves should be a common thing

Sony were truly ahead of the game with the vita and taking your “console save on the go” too bad they dropped the ball

I figured out the save thing finally you have to save your ps4 game on the cloud icon save separately from your save then log in to gog account on ps4 and ps5 it will work.

For car and vehicle games, the raindrops on the camera lens makes sense, but for an open world on foot game, it doesn't make as much sense to put rain drops on the lens.

That's true, CD Projekt Red always supports the PC first, with Witcher 1, 2, 3, and especially Cyberpunk 2077. At the last minute, they decided to briefly look at the PS4 console version, and then dumped a downgraded mess onto the PS4 disc that is still viewable for anyone who buys the 2020 disc version of the game.

Wow, Geralt's hair looks better static. That white crap hanging off his jaw looks like a field of grass blowing in the wind with Hairworks on. I've probably never seen good hair in a game. It always moves too lightly or is too neatly aligned or both. Would rather have good hair than ray tracing and DLSS, which I don't use anyway.

Some games really should use sculpted/modeled polygon hair and just put some adjustment parameters on it for the indication of movement, versus individual particle strands that often tend to be out of control and don't react naturally to gravity many times.

CGI movies can handle particle based hair fine, but video games even in the pS5 era, not as much. And a lot of times, the strands of hair go right through the player's shoulders and clothing.

So, I've put 72 hours into this since the update and have decided that's enough. The changes have been nice to play with but they don't drastically affect the overall playthrough enough for me to continue. Perhaps I'd feel differently if there was another expansion to explore. Just not enough free time to do the other things I want to do!

so glad i gave up after 10 hours. CDPR got left behind in the dust within a matter of just a few years.

they even got rid of GWENT the stand alone game on psn, changed to mobile crap.

I played a few hours during that update but haven't gotten back to it yet. I like the closer camera, but l won't be replaying the game's story. I agree, not enough time in life to replay extensive games that are just good but not amazing.

I tend to get a bit disinterested when I start exploring and then there are invisible walls along the wide open landscape in Witcher 3. Just put up some mountains and then I won't travel any further that way.

That's one reason I'd like to unlock the Skellige Island again, where you can boat and then explore that island without needing to check the map for the edges. Not sure how many more missions to unlock it though.

Might play some more and then uninstall this PS5 version and stick with my PS4 version of it on PS4. The 60 fps is nice, but the 4K is not really 4K.

I've been playing off and on since the PS5 update. I hit level 18 today and upgraded my Griffin armor. I forgot how much fun the game is. There's just so much stuff to do.

My only complaint is how wonky the actual sword play is. I don't know how many times I've swung my sword thinking I missed the enemy but for them to randomly fall over dead. You'd have thought that combat would have been updated as well. With that said I'm still having a blast

I feel lime i really want to play this game, but i downloaded Spider-Man Remastered, then ended up playing Elden Ring and after that i was wondering whether to go back to wrap up Spider-Man so i could quickly zip through Miles Morales and then debating whether maybe i might be better playing games i haven't played before such as Ratche and Clank Rift Apart Immortals Fenyx Rising and leave Witcher 3 till i'm done with games i haven't played before. Spider-Man Remastered is due to the new character models and DLC as a replay tbh.
