I don't know how true this is, but I read they've done it out of loyalty to Synapse (presumably they've got their own UHD in the works, so expect it to come out in the year 2049).

They said they did it out of “respect for the US rights holders,” which I don’t think necessarily implies Synapse is doing a UHD (and Diabolik even emphasized they were NOT implying that). But I suppose it was inevitable that that would stoke speculation.

Looks cool, but I'd actually prefer individual amarays. I hope they'll get standard editions, eventually.

Thanks, that split packaging looks terrible. I can just see going to take it off the shelf and half stays jammed between the discs on the right and the left sides of the set and the contents slipping out of the half I'm holding and falling to the floor. I think I'm waiting for a standard edition.

Yeah they did this packaging for the first Oldboy Collectors set and I didn't like it there either. They should have just made a hardshell slipcase like they usually do. This split in the middle box is just awkward to use and honestly doesn't look that great either.

Ufff!

Packaging design is simply horrible. Once opened is ridiculous, you need both hands to manipulate without split the box... And the bookleg seems just stills and technical specs...

Will cancel my order at Zavvi.

Eh, the packaging is not the greatest so I'll either have to display it face on or at the end of the shelf. I'm more excited to see how great these movies will look in glorious 4K.
