But cool to see an additional sliver of image on Paramount's. I hadn't noticed that.
We have all the others on the site, I don't want to push my luck with putting any more of our links on here because it is not appreciated by site admins. However if you search the site you'll find all 8 films.

Part 3 actually does seem to be different between the two versions besides simply the encoding. They're also not exact frames and based on the caps of Part 3 on caps-a-holic, they don't have that black band on the edge of the frame. Not sure what's going on in these particular caps tbh. Are we looking at both perspectives here? Like someone used the left side and someone used the right?

That is exactly what happened, yes.

1.85:1 is the correct ratio.

Wow, and those overlay shots look exactly like my old Anchor Bay dvd of Lucio Fulci's "Zombie". I had no idea my old Zombie dvd had a dual-layer transfer!

Barely any difference, and I much prefer the OAR on the Scream blus.

Sorry for the false reports folks. I've now seen all of the 4 comparisons from cultsploitation (thanks again). I do stand behind Paramount's blu rays looking better in motion. But the difference in screen shots just isn't the night & day I was expecting to see. They are too much alike, doppelgangers even, for the level of enthusiasm I had. I thankfully do own the Scream set!

The Friday the 13th sensibility screams open matte; it's as clear as the water in Camp Crystal Lake!

Although, you're correct, there are several instances in a few of the movies that it really, really, reallyyyyy sounds like "Chi Chi Chi"

I only looked at part 1 but the Paramount one has a small difference in contrast. It looks slightly washed out. IDK what happened there.

I've been wondering why there's no review up to show how different the remastered ones look compared with the original Paramount release.

You can literally just look at capsaholic’s comparisons of the Scream and old Paramount discs. These are from the same remaster, just Open Matte and with a slightly different encode.

Yes, if you cross your eyes and blend the frames they look 3D.

I agree. It looks a tad softer to me too.

So, based on that one screenshot, these new encodes and boxset only had English and French? They are now missing the Spanish dub and subs? Dammit. I wanted them to still have them. I'll have to buy the old one.

(I do use the subtitles, not the dubs, but I want them in case one day I watch it with someone and they need to watch it dubbed)

So apologies if this has been answered, but all of the Paramount movies are in 1.85 on the Shout set, but they are in 1.78 on the new Paramount set, is that correct?

Yes, and open matte and thank god for that. Real bummer that Shout! didn't take that road.
