This is basically true for ALL of the sequels. From my understanding, the original idea for the Halloween series was just a bunch of different type of Halloween movies similar to HIII (being that it's NOT Michael Meyers). It wasn't supposed to be a Michael Meyers series (but I think we can all agree; we are glad they did).

That anthology idea came AFTER Halloween II was made since it was supposed to be the movie that killed Michael and Loomis for good. To "reboot " the series, John Carpenter began to plan an Anthology series coming forward but of course most people didn't really like it or understand the intention of the third film. Even the original idea of Halloween II still involved Michael but it was about him coming after Laurie in her apartment a few years after Halloween (1978).

Since Halloween 2 was made to finish Halloween 1 story due to the original ending with a cliffhanger, I wonder if the original Halloween 4 plan would be to finish Halloween 3 due to it also ending with a cliffhanger. I wish Carpenter and Hill had revealed in interviews what the original idea for Halloween 4 (Anthology plan) would be.

They've talked about it several times?

It was more of a cerebral take, with Haddonfield being "haunted" by the memory of Michael. As Halloween approaches and more fear takes over, Michael comes back as a physical being. Several characters from the first two films returned.

The original script is available online.

I did read about that but thought that was the original Halloween 4 idea after they decided to bring back Michael Myers. I thought if Halloween 3 had been well received the next film would not be in Haddonfield at all or have Michael in it, except maybe in a cameo like the TV ad in Halloween 3.

i sure hope not. i'd LOVE to be able to watch the tv cut in its entirety because right now the only way you can watch the tv scenes are by themselves on youtube. is there any way you could burn a copy of that cut you have and send it to me? i'd pay shipping and fees of course.

Price matching Best Buy. The other two should drop pretty soon, I'd imagine.

The 2018 steelbook got a fresh 4K scan, and to me it looks a little better than the original SF Blu-ray. I mean, how much better can the film look.

If you're fine with a digital version, I can PM you a link. Don't have a way of copying my DVDs of the alternate cuts yet, unfortunately.

It will look more like the Universal blu ray without the over sharpening and nonsense. The interpositive they scanned for the steelbook was soft and lacked detail in comparison to the original blu ray. But was a cleaner scan overall.

The Universal bd makes the SF look like a DVD, at least from those caps.
I have the Universal 30th Anniversary (Corrected) blu ray, and the original Scream Factory blu ray. Currently contemplating whether or not this new 4K is worth the "upgrade".

The steelbook 4K scan actually looks great in motion, despite coming from an interpositive. I’m sure this new UHD will easily surpass that, though.

The pumpkin patch scene would’ve been so good. I’d be all for ghost shape in the future tbh.

Glad to hear. I'm not well experienced with burning discs and would have likely needed to ask a friend to help do it.

Interesting how the previous steelbook 4k scan .. that particular release from SF I mean... shot up in price suddenly. Was it a last minute rush on the remaining copies of a limited run? I had gotten it very late in the game for like $30, but now it's upwards of $75 or more.

The price was shooting up when I picked up by copies last year (a week shy of exactly one year ago actually). And personally speaking, the artwork on the steelbooks are leagues above the newly commissioned artwork.
