If your going to remake Hitchcock I think it needs a director with a similar level of flare to him/her personally like De Palma.

The problem is IMHO that thrillers with a bit of flare to them really have dropped off heavily in the last 20+ years, I think they lasted better than most Hollywood genres personally even if they became more commercial in the 80's and 90's they kept a good deal of flare to them, something like the Fugitive or even Double Jeopardy have a good deal of that. Today I just get the feeling you'll get up with something rather bland, especially for a film which doesn't even seem to be led by a director.

If someone like Fincher was involved I maybe a bit more interested.

Remaking Hitchcock is already a tough call. Not all of his films are great and some are even bad but his good ones are damned good.

I agree with your statement about thrillers not being the draw they might have been. The 80s and 90s had some all time greats for sure but the genre tends to be bland and/or just doesn’t have the right cast to add any gravitas to the whole thing. I dunno.
