As for the Japanese audio, again your phone can do pn the fly audio translation. My Samsung S24 Ultra does. I can even use that feature in a live call if someone I connect with can't speak English. Happens with me in my line of work.

Godzilla Minus One faced a US exclusivity window that was negotiated in advance for the Legendary movie.

Nobody expected Minus One to do the US box office it did.

It did more business in the US ($56 million) than in its home country of Japan ($48 million). That was absolutely inconceivable for Toho when they negotiated the deal, months in advance.

The movie would actually have grossed even more in the US, but it had to be pulled from US theaters early, due to the terms of the deal.

The deal also kept it off US PVOD, streaming and physical media for a blackout period while Legendary's movie was out there.

After debating for the last day or so on whether or not to purchase this set, I’ve decided to go ahead and pre-order it. Hopefully this will get Toho to release future movies in 4K outside of Japan with subtitled/translated bonus material.

There’s $ to be made if they can appease Godzilla fans all over the globe.

I will soon own both the Japanese 4k and the US 4k sets. I was fine without the subs/a dub but I too hope Toho finally gets it and will release more of their movies in 4k with at least subs in the US. The only way they will do that is if we support them (even though this set is still lacking).

I have had the Japanese 4k set since may-great package great quality great fun-dialogue has never been hugely memorable in the series-so I just relied on facial expressions etc-and we all managed to have fun watching it.hope everyone getting the sub version enjoy it

All that content would cost a fortune to translate, for a relatively small market.

I can't imagine Toho would release this set, and then another one with identical content subtitled. It would destroy their consumer base for any future home video releases.

I'd say chances are slim to none.

I placed a second order tonight with 15% code and a free shipping code so I saved $17.75 so it was $59.64 vs. $68 on my first order last night. I also emailed them to see if they can cancel my order last night, it shouldn't be a issue since it was last night and still in preorder stage.

If you're charging a premium price, you should be putting out a premium product. If they didn't think it was worth translating the bonus features, why did they include the disc at all? Is it something that adds value to the package or not? Why are so many people on this forum excusing an obviously cheap move that no other publisher would be caught dead doing?

I was on the fence about pre-ordering, mostly because the box is huge and the bonus disc with no subtitles.

Then I read the Godzilla shop site
"the first opportunity to own Godzilla Minus One home video in the US."

Unless I'm terribly wrong that means there will be more editions coming out, so I'll wait.
I'll be happy with just the 4K disc in a regular case.
Having minus color as well could be swell, but I have Logan Noir & Fury Road Black & Chrome, and I'll never watch them.

Yes, there will likely be other releases in the US down the line, probably more English friendly…I plan on buying it again if there’s a stripped down version with the extras in English just to complete the package and swap discs. Can’t pass this box set up. I was looking at photos more closely and it’s magnificent. Great showpiece.

I could see them replicating again how Toho in Japan has released it. The 4K still being locked into this set but the Minus One BD and Minus Color BD getting separate editions. I could even see them doing the 3 BD set deluxe edition.
