Both Congo and The Keep shipped out today. Should make for an interesting double feature in a few days.

This package is exactly like Beastmaster and Roadhouse. Big jalopy. The movie of course looked fantastic even with the barely(almost invisible) visible white line print damage on the OCN which VS addressed graciously before the start of the presentation.

Never knew it had print damage.

Yeah, apparently, in certain few moments. I wouldn't worry about it, though. It's hard to describe, because they did a admirable job reducing the print scratches to almost nothing. I don't want to give the impression that there is image problems. I watched the movie all the way through without any issue with the presentation that I saw. I'm not saying they aren't there. They just didn't detract from my enjoyment at all.

BTW, they totally should have given the leading role to Bruce Campbell who auditioned. Dylan Walsh is as dull as ditch water. Bruce woulda lent his talents to an already quirky adventure/horror film. Dylan just seems out of place, like he's not in on the joke. Bruce would have been *chef's kiss. I dunno what the hell they saw in Walsh to cast him over a natural leading man.

I said the same thing earlier in this thread about Campbell and Walsh switching places. Walsh is really irritating from the moment he appears to the moment Amy walks off on his ass.

I think Bruce Campbell would have given his relationship with Amy more oddball sexual tension, than with Dylan Walsh.

It could’ve elevated the now camp value of the film.

I agree. Walsh was so dull. Campbell would have been perfect.

Yeah. Most obvious during the "Bail Out" sequence and for quite a while afterwards, especially noticeable against blue sky. A shame, but it is what it is.

Bruce was that B-movie guy who did TV shows that's why they didn't give him the lead, jokes on them they were making a B-movie anyway

Exactly! And I'm sorry ole Hollywood, but ya slept on Bruce Campbell. He's a charismatic guy and a likable lead.

I think Bruce works better on TV as a lead.

Brisco should’ve been on for more than a season. Shocking it got a full season in retrospect.

Bruce would never in any situation at the time gotten the Congo male lead. They thought they were making Jurassic Park(sadly).

Yeah they were going for the next Sam Neil, a "serious actor" to lend gravitas.

There is a Vinegar Syndrome store within driving distance to me. I went there yesterday to get Congo and avoid the shipping fee from ordering online but they were sold out!

They have a strict one copy per customer and no hold policy, so it's first come first serve. I guess I'll try again next week.

Walsh is fine. Needed a geeky scientist type, not Bruce Campbell.

Walsh and Linney are both dull as hell and terrible choices for leads. Thankfully, the supporting cast around them is absolutely loaded - and they're all swinging for the fences.

My copy was delivered today, and I have to say I love the overall packaging. The original poster art is on the reversible side of the disc case, which is a nice added bonus. Looking forward to checking the transfer out soon.
