Hmm I notice the prologue is in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio which is how it was shot for IMAX. So how is that going to work for the rest of the Dark Knight which was shot for 2.35:1?

My god...is the Dark Knight prologue not DNR'd?

I mean, it was shot 65mm for IMAX, so it should be fine grained to begin with and not require it

Let's hope they don't for the eventual blu-ray release.

OK, I gave my original DVD to a friend. My mistake. I'm going to rebuy this one. On DVD that is.

If WB f*cks up The Dark Knight blu-ray later this year...I will be done with WB Blu-Rays. Plain and simple.

IMHO, it is inexcusable the Dolby TrueHD is not 24bit on this Batman Begins release. I would be willing to bet they have a 24 bit original audio track at the studio somewhere as this movie is from 2005...

BB was made in the transition period, so until you know whether or not they have one, it's not reasonable to make accusations.

we did know before and since Warner Bros declare Blu-ray disc victory.Batman Begins will have the same encode like the dead format.Anyway we should not stop here but rather continue because from now and on new encodes from Warner are giving it the maximum encode.Dirty harry is an example of higher bit rate encoding.

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRe...rs_blu-ray.htm

" Technically the three are supported with their original aspect ratios, 2.35-2.40 and 1.85:1 in glowing 1080p with VC-1 compression. I would occasionally check the bitrates and it would be a quite high - in around 34-40bps."

We can expect safely dark knight feature will have the best possible encoding ever found on BD. Maybe this feature presentation will be AVC .

10,000 B.C, Bucket List, Fool's Gold, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact and The Dead Pool are on BD-25. Only Dirty Harry peaks 32+ Mbps. The bit rates on the rest don't peak beyond HD DVD's threshold.

"10,000 BC comes to Blu-ray Disc from Warner featuring 1080p VC-1 encoded video with an average bitrate of 20 mbps and lossless Dolby TrueHD 5.1 channel audio with an average bitrate of 1.5 mbps."

"The video presentation was excellent and near reference in quality."

But it is still better than 13 or 15 mbps done only on HD-DVD.the average here is 20 and can go higher or below 20.Overall still very good.

Not to get too off-topic, but Fool's Gold PQ was very good, but the audio was lacking. Maybe the BD reviewers didn't think so, but I found it to be very good quality picture-wise so I don't know what you are making your point.

Have you seen this movie yet? What did you think of the PQ?

I'll wait until I can see it with my own eyes. I trust that it'd be perfect if any other studio had it - Warner are the only ones that could screw this one up, so this makes waiting for the Blu-ray a bit more interesting. Will they totally blow it? Will they knock it out of the park? Who really knows.

Nothing to loose anymore,Only one format exists on earth and Warner should do it correctly this time.

FOX SONY AND Disney following by Lionsgate ,Paramount are doing great technical achievements for blu-ray disc why Warner shouldn't.there no excuse anymore,we receive bullshit encoding because of the dead format but now everything is cleared up and a step ahead should be done in future. This movie should get the most advanced feature ever found up till now and deserve to be the best.

10,000 B.C BD Info - 16.43 Mbps

Code:
VC-1	1:48:55	18,644,281,344	20,400,127,760	16.43	Dolby TrueHD 5.1	DD AC3 5.1 640Kbps
WB should learn a lot from other Studios.

1) Refrain from filtering the image
2) Make lossless audio mandatory
3) Feature 24-bit lossless audio whenever possible or at least refrain from heavy DIALNORM.
4) Improve the bit rates and keep it at reasonable levels. Just 3~4 Mbps above DVD's peak bit rate simply doesn't sound convincing on exploiting the potential of Blu-ray as a technically superior format.
