Apologies if this has been asked before. I did a search, but unfortunately the search tool throws out the "60" in my search string.
Is there a difference between the ProCinema 60 and the ProCinema 600? When you do a comparison on the DefTech web site (link) it lists no differences other than price (and the price difference at retail is even larger). I'm considering getting this setup for my living room, replacing my mix-n-match setup and connecting the DefTech's to a new Marantz SR5003. Thoughts? |

As far as the speakers, My older Brother has apair of them hooked up for surrounds and they sound good, but they don't go deep so I wouldn't personally want them as fronts.... But that is just me talking........... |

Budget-wise, the answer is "as cheap as I can get without sacrificing too much quality." I figure I can sell my existing stuff for around $200-$300 max, so I don't want to spend much more than $400-$500 beyond that. My living room is about 16x19 with a vaulted ceiling, but due to it opening up to the kitchen behind the couch, and a wall of French doors on the left side of the viewing spot (sofa), I am limited to 5.1. I don't oppose floorstanders (obviously) although I've been told by some that these DefTech's satellites would sound a lot better than my existing Sony's. |

![]() ![]() ![]() The ProCinema 600 system is the replacement for the discontinued ProCinema 60 system ( Limited availability promotional model; few retailers stock the ProCinema 60 as it has been superseded by the ProCinema 600. ). The ProCinema 600 system has the following improvements over the ProCinema 60 system: 1. The ProSub 600 uses a 250 watt amp & has a front firing long throw 8" woofer coupled to a 8" bottom mounted passive bass radiator. ( Many of the ProSub 600 features are borrowed from the Def Tech SuperCube subwoofers ) versus The ProSub 60 uses a 150 watt amp & has a 8" woofer. The ProSub 600 is a better sub than the ProSub 60. 2. The ProMonitor 600 uses a 1" Aluminum dome tweeter & a 3.5" BDSS upper bass/midrange driver coupled to a 3.5" top mounted passive bass radiator. ( The BDSS midrange driver coupled to a passive bass radiator is a feature borrowed from Def Tech's top of the line Mythos series. ) versus The ProMonitor 60 uses a 1" Aluminum dome tweeter & a 3.5" upper bass/midrange driver. The ProMonitor 600 is the better value. 3. The ProCenter 600 uses a 1" Aluminum dome tweeter & two 3.5" BDSS upper bass/midrange drivers coupled to two 3.5" side mounted passive bass radiators. versus The ProCenter 60 uses a 1" Aluminum dome tweeter & two 3.5" upper bass/midrange drivers coupled to two 3.5" side mounted passive bass radiators. The Procenter 600 gets the edge with the BDSS midrange drivers. If you must have a small excellent performing satellite speaker system, the Def Tech ProCinema 600 system is the way to go. If speaker size is not a problem, go with the ProCinema 800 or ProCinema 1000 systems. On the other hand, for less than you'd pay for the ProCinema 800 or ProCinema 1000 systems you could be running a Polk center( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290022 ), 2 Polk towers up front( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290013 ), 2 Polk rears( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290094 ) & 1 or 2 of these PA-120 subwoofers( http://www.sounddistributors.com/buy...at_name=Search ). I was using the ProCinema 600 system in a 11.5' x 11.5' bedroom with a 7.5' ceiling. It is perfect for small rooms. A 16' x 19' room with vaulted ceilings may be pushing it with the ProCinema 600 system. Look at the ProCinema 1000 system or the Polk system I suggested.

Hi Guys,
Need your experienced opinion on this, I am using a Def Tech ProCinema 600 5.1 system and is thinking of upgrading to 7.1. I'm thinking of adding 2 BP6 as my mains and use my 4 existing Pro Monitor 600 satellites as surrounds. Will the combination work or is it a bad idea? Can anybody shed a light on this experiment of mine? Thanks and regards |
