Boogeyman 2 (2007)

Yeah, I'm sure everybody wants to forget about the first Boogeyman remake; a little screwy with the plot, but I thought it was kinda enjoyable. Then they made this sequel, which has absolutely nothing to do with the first film. It follows a completely different character to an insane asylum where some killer stalks around and kills a bunch of people; hence, it slips into a standard slasher/torture porn territory. The Boogeyman's not even in it!

The thing most worthwhile seeing here will be the wicked death scenes. Highlights include a really messed-up scene where a woman is pumped full of some liquid (body fat I think) and she explodes! Another scene involves a lady picking away at her skin, trying to pull out maggots.

The plot's thin and weak, the camera work is jittery as heck, and the film is pretty small and stupid, but it's alright for a quick blood and gore fix.

One other good thing is: Tobin Bell, the Jigsaw killer, is in it.

I primarily popped this in because it was short, and last time I saw it I didn't even bother to finish it.

This really is a lost gem! With many similarites to The Exorcist, this must have been a major influence. It features a great performance by Daliah Lavi and what must be the birth of that creepy 'spider walk'. I read this film was never released in America, or in English, but luckily is up on YouTube with subtitles. Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwPRc...ature=youtu.be Directed by Brunello Rondi, Fellini's assistant.

10/12: The Shining (1980) This is a classic, and one of the most visually striking horror films ever made.

10/13: Campfire Tales (1997) This is an underrated gem that is genuinely scary. This is probably my favorite "anthology" style horror film. The cast is terrific as well (Christine Taylor, James Marsden, Amy Smart, Glenn Quinn, Christopher Masterson, and Ron Livingston all have roles in this.) 1/2

10/16: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) One of the most terrifying films I have ever seen. It is absolutely brilliant. The grainy snuff film look adds immeasurably to the feeling of dread and terror that in this film. This is a masterpiece of terror.

10/17: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) This is a pretty good reimagining of the original. It doesn't come close to matching it, however. 1/2

10/18: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006) I honestly really enjoyed this prequel, and found it vastly superior to the 2003 remake. Jordana Brewster easily outshines Jessica Biehl, if you ask me. I felt alot more for the victims in this film as well. 1/2

10/18: Creepshow (1982) This was a very fun and original film. This reminded me alot of "Tales From The Crypt," and you can't go wrong with George Romero.

THE INNKEEPERS
I Def jumped during a few scenes, but took too long before anything happened. Ty West is a breath of fresh air in the horror genre.

THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL1/2
Really dig this movie a lot. A very well done throwback.

THE BEAST WITHIN
what a flaming turd this movie was.

Movie #22 Q-The Winged Serpent, Larry Cohen (1982)

This is a fun monster flick on a budget. It's got a great script and Michael Moriarty gives an odd, but endearing performance in the lead. Larry Cohen flicks are generally pretty entertaining.

Im opposite of u. Loved the remake and thought the prequel was also good but a hair or two behind the remake. Also no way did Brewster outshine Biel in my opinion. I love both of them but Biel was really great in the remake. I guess u couldnt go wrong with either if u think about it though. Got Em!!

Man I just watched this and I couldnt agree more. I didnt rated as low but it still didnt get a passing grade. The opening scene, a decent ending, & Kitty Moffat were the only decent things about the film. The entire middle (majority) of the film sucked balls. Got Em!!

Oct 16th - Demons (1985) - How have I not seen this movie until now? One of those strange occurances where you just pass over a movie all these years until finally one day you blind buy the DVD and it turns out great.

For those that haven't seen this I highly recommend it for a few reasons. The first is the cool premise, chaos breaks out at a movie theater as the demons of hell take over and start munching and changing their victims into more demons. The second is the soundtrack, if you grew up in the 80's, you'll love it. The coolest part of the movie was one of the transformations that was shown, very cool.

- Almost a 5 skuller but not quite, however that may change w/ repeat viewings. Very good movie and I'm excited to see the sequel Demons 2.

Oct 16th - I Spit on Your Grave (Day of Woman) (1978) - The classic rape / revenge movie that I've seen many times. A female author moves to the country for the summer to write her book, where she is harassed by local shirtless hillbillies. After her horrible encounter, she exacts revenge on them one by one. I particularly think the first revenge is very strange and I agree w/ Joe Bob Briggs that she is one kinky chic.

- An ok movie made good w/ the Joe Bob Briggs commentary track. That's really the only way to watch it.

Oct 17th - Fright Night (Blu-ray) (1985) - Wow, what a job these guys did on the blu-ray. It's not perfect but its a huge improvement over the DVD. I'm not even going to say what this is about b/c most know however if you haven't seen the original, just watch it! I remember seeing this on VHS when I was a kid.

- I was one of the lucky ones to get this from Twilight Time and I'm glad I did. A new age horror classic. One that should not be missed!

Movie #23 Twins of Evil, John Hough (1971)

I'm a big Hammer fan and I had been holding on to this one for a bit. I can't rank this one among the studio's best, but it's entertaining. Peter Cushing instantly classes up anything he's in and the Collinson twins don't hurt things either.

The mystery was sort of interesting, and they tried to explain a lot, but in the end it just doesn't make much sense to me, and its all pretty dumb. There was no logic to any of it, even if it's a supernatural story.
Product of its time. I thought it was somewhat scary when I saw it in theatres but I was younger back then and the little kids with long haired hadn't been done too overkill and parodied like it has now.

The other reason is horror is subjective and what frightens you might not frighten somewhere else and vice versa. Everyone has different fears, phobias, ect. so it's not surprising when certain films works for some and not others.

Either way it is one of the better modern horror films with a great performance by Naomi Watts. I wish more horror movies were made like this, and the old days for that matter, where the cast is made up of older respectable actors, not terrible CW teens who are pretty and can't act.

First time watching this film since the 80's. It still holds up very well. Love the cast and the nostalgia was great for me. I used to love Adrienne Barbeau and it was good to see some people that were in other horror classics like Creepshow & Halloween. Very good film that has a special place in the horror world. Got Em!!
Glad to hear it still worked for you. This is one of my favourite horror films. I love the campfire tale feel it has and the great horror cast with Tom Atkins, Jamie Lee Curtis, Adrien Barbeau, and Janet Leigh. Damn I wish John Carpenter would get back to making great movies.

Great movie, if you liked Guillermo's other films you will probably like this. Although it is about a haunted school it is also as much a drama about a group of kids and a war going on. Kind of like Pan's Labyrinth. Good to know this going in as I know some who have been disappointed in his movies as the fantasy/ horror events are only about a third of the films.

Consider The Revenant, although not streaming it's available at Redbox. Dead Heat is a buddy cop zombie film that is on Netflix. Vamp, also on NetFlix, is a spirited frat boy strip club vampire film. Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein is a slapstick classic horror hybrid, on NetFlix. Between those 4 there should be someone for every taste.

Awesome cheers I'll check them out.

The Bat People (1974) 4.5/10

Terror Train (1980) - In my opinion this is a vastly underrated slasher film. It's well known but most don't seem to be too taken by it. For me it sits somewhere up top. I have a feeling that it doesn't get too much love due to its lack luster kills, which yes for the most part are pretty lame, but in my opinion it delivers so much more. I love the train setting where there is no where to run. I love the magic and mystery aspect thanks to a very 80s David Copperfield. I love that it takes place on New Years Eve strangely with a costume party going on, and thanks to this great concept allows the killer to switch into various costumes, each one creepier then the last. I also love the reveal at the end, that even though it is quite obvious I never figured it out on my first viewing. Oh, and can't forget the talented cast led by scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis. Great slasher and great Bluray from Scream!

The Bat People (1974) - This movie was pretty disappointing. It's about a doctor who gets bit by a bat after trying to get it on with his wife in a cave on their honeymoon, kinky I know. He for some reason starts to become a man bat and kills people, or is it all in his head? There's a dirty cop as well, blah blah. Overall this was mostly boring with all the kills shown off screen. I didn't expect much going in but at the least hoped for a cool man bat creature design, and unfortunately after waiting the whole movie for the reveal it was very cheap looking. The creature didn't even have batwings for gods sake!

10/1 Child's Play 1/2- a classic Horror for me, and a great slasher film
10/2 Chernobyl Diaries - wow this movie was just flat out bad
10/6 The Last House on the Left (remake) - one of the better Horror remakes, this movie really makes you feel for the main characters
10/13 Shaun of the Dead - great zombie spoof flick
10/14 The Walking Dead-Episode 1 1/2- pretty good opener for the season, eager to see next weeks
10/18 Sinister - very forgettable movie, the best part was the score
10/19 Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter - not as bad as i thought it would be, but still not very good
10/19 The Cabin in the Woods - a great time and FINALLY something different and original for the much needed horror genre

I really need to pick up The Woman in Black, as I havn't seen it.
Yeah I try and watch it at least once every other year. Sounds so far between viewings when ya type it out, but so many movies come out each year, there's only so much time to rewatch certain things.

Oh I've had a copy from VHS for.. not sure how long, probably around 6 years or so. I think this was only the second time I watched it. Decided to dig out some stuff that hadn't seen the light of day in some time and that was one.
