cool-- I like the idea of setting ground rules for ratings as well since many people have different values for their star ratings--

looking forward to participating!

I know it's not October just yet but I watched Hellraiser a few hours ago, so I'm getting prepared.

I'll probably watch it again once it's closer to Halloween though because man... what a great horror film. 4 skulls for me.

So glad this thread is back on! My favorite on the site!

I got an early start this year...

9/24 - Dracula (1931)
I watched this via Netflix Instant, basically so I can compare its quality to the Universal BluRay set coming out soon...great film though with plenty of atmosphere and a great performance by Dwight Frye (not to mention Bela Lugosi).

9/25 - Killer Klowns from Outer Space
First time viewing and I can understand why this is a cult classic. The Klowns and their antics are pretty original. A fun watch.

I'll jump early too.

9/24 - Phantasm II
I like the big budget leap and it still holds up pretty well today. Good action and sets. Little known fact - Brad Pitt auditioned for the role of Mike.

I'm not sure what else I'm watching in October, but on Halloween I'm definitely doing a Halloween 1-3 triple feature.

Can not wait to start mine, not sure what to start with, I have to include my 8 year old at least once a week, So those will be along the lines of Sleepy Hollow. I just acquired the SAW films on blu, and considering I've only seen up to 4 that will be a fun week long run. However I always end on Halloween with Curse of the Blair Witch, and The Blair Witch Project.Haters will hate, but I love this movie and only watch it once a year. When the tent is getting attacked in the middle of the night and you hear the children laughing is one of the creepiest things I've seen in cinema.

mine always starts Sept. 1st.

So far I've watched

- An American Werewolf in London
My favorite werewolf movie. I find it to be the perfect mix of horror and comedy. Just an all around great movie

- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Need I say much more? It's a classic. A very disturbing and fascinating film.

- House of 1000 Corpses
A pretty cool flick. The Firefly family are awesome and so is the visuals. The only element that holds this film back is the really, really, unlikeable victims.

- The Devil's Rejects
One of my favorite movies. I think RZ did an incredible job.

- The Thing
Good, just a little slow for me. Great effects though and still very enjoyable.

- Return of the Living Dead
A very ridiculous film that's enjoyable for how funny it is. The concept also of having no way to kill the zombies is pretty scary.

- A Nightmare on Elm Street
Once again, a classic.

- Dawn of the Dead
Yet another classic. While it may feel a bit dated for some, I still find it to be an incredible piece of work.

- Scream 3
First time I had seen this. While I still liked it very much, I thought it lacked some elements that the previous 2 had.

- The Shining
I had only seen this one other time many years ago, and I can appreciate it much more this time. A true classic. One of Kubrick's best.

- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
While I do find this to be entertaining, it is certainly a fall from the first. It just doesn't have the same realistic, brutal quality that it's predecessor had.

- The Hills Have Eyes
Awesome movie. Very disturbing, but pretty cool.

- The Last House on the Left
Another brutal film. I find it to be very interesting, and I think David Hess's performance is incredible.

- A Clockwork Orange
Once again, a Kubrick classic. A violent, fascinating film.

Yes it is. I actually always enjoy watching that right before, I think it brings into the world and mindset to really enjoy the film. The stuff from the 70s occult documentary looks very genuine. Loves it
