I wouldn't at all be surprised if they don't do another production run so the pre-orders out there now will be all that is available so if I were you I wouldn't waste anymore time waiting and get a pre-order in ASAP.

Yeah, that was my thinking. I had questions about it also, but might as well get it while it's still available. Then, if it's not up to your standards, return it a few days after reviews come out as opposed to missing out.

I always say how glad I am that I don’t experience FOMO, but I think that only applies to “extroverted” things lol. When it comes to movies, I’m not that way. But it’s worked out, I’m glad I got that SteelBook a few years ago, and I know I’d regret it if I didn’t get this set.
(Unless of course those bonus discs get released elsewhere but I’m not taking a chance because I love the movie so much) |

![]() I did notice the site layout is quite similar to Bull Moose too. Unless if both Bull Moose and Zia use the same website maker thing. Quote:

Of course Michael Reuben Sammich ought to review the OG cinema tracks whenever possible instead of flat-out Atmos/DTS:X track remix favoritism. Especially films which those two audio formats never existed in the first place. It's the main reason why I always skip his audio quality review portion of much older films. ANYWAY, really looking forward to this set of the Reitman Father & Son Trilogy. and ecstatic the other quite non-canon film was left out physically. (Hoping the code sheet will have individual codes so it'd be easier to sell those.) Last edited by AdmiralNoodles; 01-10-2022 at 07:37 PM. |

As for the packaging, I assumed plastic when it was announced, but the same kind of nice cardboard they use for the Columbia Classics sets makes more sense, especially with a book inside -- the book can probably be taken out or put back in more smoothly if it's glossy cardboard versus hard plastic. |

I contacted them via chat and they canceled mine easily. Although I was just canceling so I could reorder with the 10% off coupon. Still, while you can't do it yourself, you should see if they can do it for you. Odds are they can.

One thing I haven't seen too much concern over is the lighted box. I own Sony's deluxe Close Encounters box, and while it looks cool, the button-cell battery is sealed inside, with absolutely no way to get to it. There's videos on Youtube showing people's attempts to get to the battery to either remove it or replace it, and it's not pretty. You basically have to cut/tear into it from inside, and rip it apart partially, to get to the battery. It will never be the same once you do this. But you have to because it's just a standard button cell battery and it will die at some point sitting there, and then it will start leaking acid inside sooner or later. So you have to deal with it if you want the box to last long-term, whether you care about the lights working again or not - you don't want acid leaking inside the box. They put zero thought into replacing the battery for Close Encounters. I have no doubt the same amount of thought went into this one. Just something to be aware of.
For, me this box is too expensive even at $100, with some things taken into account like the annoying box/battery issue, the fact that I don't care that much about the 2nd or 3rd films (3rd film was okay but I don't need to own it any time soon), and the fact that the HDR10 grade is the usual Sony light cannon as Geoff terms it, meaning it's quite blown out on my TV. My Panasonic player can help somewhat to tame that, but still it's not ideal, and for me DV isn't a plus any time soon as my current 3D/UHD TV handles DV poorly, so I bought a player that doesn't support DV. So I'm stuck with the same light cannon HDR10 grade as the previous release. It's a shame this is the only way to get all those awesome extras. I think that's a pretty mean thing to do. There's no reason they couldn't press the extras disc again and include it with a standalone copy of the first film later. That would take zero extra effort later. I can't justify spending $100 just to see some extras. The original stereo track is a very nice inclusion but I'd still be dealing with the same HDR10 overcooked grade no mater what. If I could buy the standalone for $35 with the extras disc, I'd jump at it. |

Admittedly, as a fan of the franchise, a huge factor in convincing me to buy this is the inclusion of the Making Ghostbusters book. The cheapest copy on Amazon has been $200 for quite awhile now, although maybe it'll come down in light of this set. Other people's MMV, but to get the book and all those incredible new extras and a physical copy of Afterlife I'd be buying anyway, the set was a no-brainer even before I lowered Amazon's $99 price point by another $30 with gift cards. |

It just occurred to me that the preview cut could have the unused Bernstein score in the place of the soundtrack album cuts in the theatrical version.
It probably doesn’t because they probably would have mentioned that in the description, but one can hope. |
