No idea. From what I gathered was word of mouth. There was some moaning about the musical first number and they couldn't sit through the first 5 mins anymore and calling it crap lol. Comparisons to The Artist were made (how does a b&w film win an Oscar in our age) What pisses me off is they didn't even give it a chance. I thought it was great and will stick with me for a long time.

Amazing film. I had money on it that it was going to get best picture, I was right for like five seconds lol. I'm in Australia and people were bagging this film without even seeing it. It took a bit of convincing to get family and friends to see it but they sure changed there tune once they did. We need films like this, brilliant!

I finally got around to watching La La Land this evening and I enjoyed it. The dance sequences weren't for me but it didn't ruin the film. I loved all the classic movie refrences and the jazz music was a real treat. Which brings me to my favorite scene of the whole movie. I love the way Gosling's character

[Show spoiler]explains the complexities of jazz music and his love and passion for it. I can definately relate being somewhat of a musician myself.

This scene doesn't really spoil anything as far as the plot is concerned, but if you haven't seen the movie you might wanna wait, though I wouldn't.

He completely nailed this with the emotion and mannerisms as if it's how he really feels about jazz. The direction was brilliant in this scene. I was really feelin' it.
