Is that matey with those incredibly iffy comparison videos? Not a great loss, although if they're taking a time out to review their methodology then that's not a bad thing. If you mean Brass Tax then he's harmless enough, at least he's actually watching in HDR (I hope?) unlike that Oliver Harper dude that people dribble over. Being a respected reviewer in one sense doesn't mean they know anything about HDR, and so it proves with him.

PS

I'm sorry for having a go at you in the HDR Discussion thread a while back, I noticed you pretty much cooled off from posting on here in general after that and if I had anything to do with that then I can only apologise again. I've become just as bored of it being the Penton presents: Top Gun 2 thread as you, it was cute at first - hence my vehement defence of it and him - but it got tiresome very quickly and he gets a bit b!tchy when people take the piss out of him. Doesn't help he's got his own gormless sidekick in the form of LOTR, king of the non-sequitur.

Thank you. I will pick it for sure then. I probably won't be getting a 4KTV and equipment for at least another 2 years, but I want a new transfer for the movie itself on BD (same goes for Clockwork Orange).

I wonder if this one will have teal highlights like 2001, Batman 1-2, Matrix had.

What you have to remember is, this isn't some decision Warner Bros has made with those films. It's the technology. It brings out the colours and detail that for the last 40 years no 35mm print or DVD or blu ray edition has been able to show us. The HDR technology can penetrate the original negative and bring all this out only now in 2019 but obviously the more expensive your TV is the better, the more detail and colour you will be able to see so if this film has teal highlights, it was always there, it's just every format until now has been flawed, only a really good HDR television will bring that teal to the forefront.

Don't think for one second that Warner Bros has gotten on their computer editing software and tinkered with these movies and deliberately changed colours to make the films look different. Even if you see a film in the cinema today, you cannot trust your own eyes. That big screen will not display the correct colours and detail that a good HDR TV will.

All about the technology.

Teal push has nothing to do with how much you spent on a display.

I understand people’s wishes for more extras, but extras are widely available online for free as well, what really needs preservation is the film itself, and generally 4K releases are pretty much definitive.

Um, what? You can see teal highlights on the shittiest displays. It's definitely color grading decision.

Blimey, you've changed your tune from "HDR is not on the film elements, a computer does it": You're still talking bollocks mind you, only it's a different kind of bollocks.

Bill Pope timed the Matrix so that one is correct.
So unless you have a good ouija board you are not getting John back to time this one.
And the lack of Mono and cut options leave me little hope on this disc.

Maybe Pope timed Batmans, 2001 and The Shining as well while he was at it.

I frankly see this only on recent WB discs...

Probably not...

Barry Lyndon looks perfect afaics. Encouraging.

Unrelated to this topic, but I wonder if Jan Yarbrough worked on Batman 1-2 and 2001.
