His screen time doesn't have anything to do with if he was good or not though

She's been around the vampires for a while now...and is awkward not only around them, but ALL the time. Stewart is like that in real life (in interviews/award shows/etc. at least), she is just playing herself but even more stiffly. Boring does not automatically equal stiff personality; just not interesting.

Also, I went back over my review for the film and put some more thought into reflecting on the movie and decided to lower the score to a 2.5 from the 3 (which I decided on after originally intending to give it a 2.75 while writing the review).

Match Point

Directed by Woody Allen
Starring Scarlett Johansson, Emily Mortimer, Jonathan Rhys Meyers
124 minutes

Australian region free Blu-ray.

This was a pretty good story about relationships gone wrong. Chris Wilton (Meyers) plays a tennis pro who starts dating the sister of one of his pupils, but he's more attracted to the girlfriend of his pupil and eventual brother-in-law.

He can't get her out of his mind and so begins an affair behind his wife's back.

This has its moments, but never reaches the level of similar films such as Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Closer. It just feels that something is lacking. The dialogue doesn't have the punch of the other two titles I mentioned and there's very little humor.

The actors do a good job and I liked it enough to import it, but don't expect a movie that will change your life.

The presentation also lacked punch. There's nothing actually wrong with the video, but I would rate it around 3.5/5. The audio was OK once I cranked it up, but nothing spectacular in a movie dominated by dialogue. It was lossless, but just two channels. Also a 3.5/5.

For fans of the film, it's region free and an obvious upgrade. I doubt any further presentations will improve the adequate transfer.

Overall 3.5/5

Well, yeah. While I like the Twilight movies, I think Michael Sheen will have a hard time ever topping Lucian as far as roles go.

And while I'm talking about Twilight, I have little doubt that you will like Eclipse the best out of the three. While I have yet to watch my copy (I will either tonight or on Wednesday), it is the one with the most action by far from what I hear. Will you actually like it? I dunno, but it should at least hold your interest.

Lastly, I would give my opinions on your issues with New Moon, but I think they've already been covered pretty well. I keep going back and forth between that and Twilight as to which is my favorite between the first two, but I think they will both be replaced once I watch Eclipse.

I saw this movie about six years ago and enjoyed it. But after all that time I really didn't remember much about it besides that it was about Tom Hanks being stuck in an airport.

Tom Hanks plays Victor who is on his way to New York but gets detained at the airport because his country's government is overthrown and he is a citizen of nowhere..."unacceptable." In his time here he adjusts to his situation, forms bonds with employees at the airport and even finds a special someone (Zeta-Jones).

The story is quite simple, and it works incredibly well. The balance between drama and comedy is absolutely perfect. There is never a portion of the film that is overly serious or a portion that is comedic when it feels inappropriate. Everything clicks into place and runs incredibly smoothly for the entire duration of the film.

The situations that Victor is placed into and his interactions with the characters are all executed well and by the end
[Show spoiler]when he is leaving the airport and all the people in the airport are following him to the door you are (or at least I was) about him finally getting into New York to get the signature for his late father.

Regarding the comedy...it is absolutely hilarious. I had to pause the movie several times because I couldn't stop laughing and was not hearing what was being said next

Tom Hanks is fantastic as Victor. I could elaborate on that but...that sums it up. He was fantastic.

I really enjoy everyone in the movie actually. From the grumpy janitor to incredible attractive stewardess, everyone single one of the major supporting characters (did I just create a new category? ) is interesting and well played during the dramatic moments and the comedic moments. I don't have a single complaint about any of them.

And what makes them even better is that they all work very well with Hanks on screen.

I really have no real complaints about this movie that I can think of. Which is rare because there are things that I dislike about my favorite movies; so I love it when a film comes along and I don't have a single problem with it no matter if its tiny or significant. But it is one of those movies that for some reason does not get a 5/5, even with me having no problems with the film.

what did you think the first time through?

i remember the first time i watched it, i kept wondering "when is this gonna interest me? what's happening?" and almost turned it off! then all of a sudden, about halfway through, it just clicked and i was like, "whoa, this is one of the best films i have ever seen!" and it instantly became one of my absolute favorites, along with the greatest MADE film i have yet to see.

i know the same thing happened with surf (where he actually DID turn it off and then went back and fell in love with it) so i would definitely try it again. it also looks gorgeous on blu

which, btw, my copy JUST shipped like an hour ago after i bought it like 5 days ago! that's never happened with amazon before

Guido is a famous director who has had two consecutive flops and is struggling to create a new quality film. At the same time he is struggling with his personal life with his relationship with his wife and his mistress, as well as the temptation of other women.

I enjoy the story of the film, its pretty good. It just would have been better without all of the bloody singing and dancing

This movie did not need to be and should not have been a musical. It should have simply been a drama. It would have worked so much better. Because with what we got in between the dancing and singing I would give a 3.75/5, but had we had more time devoted to Guido and his relationships in actual dialog and monologues instead of singing and dancing ridiculously I probably would have bumped it to a 4/5. But we didn't get that...we got the ridiculous dancing and singing.

Not to mention the songs were not even close to good in my opinion. Terrible.

And in addition to that there were only two I thought did a good job with the singing. First is Cotillard; she did a very good job with her singing, I thought she had a beautiful singing voice. And second is Day-Lewis, which really surprised me; he wasn't great but actually did good.

I liked the main cast well enough aside from Kate Hudson's small part, didn't care for her.

But again, there were only two who were really good as far as I'm concerned.

Day-Lewis is of course very good, its Daniel Day-Lewis after all.

Cotillard was probably my favorite in the film, its a shame she didn't have more screen time though

I REALLY wish this had simply been a drama, I could have enjoyed it much more throughout instead of having to suffer through musical numbers (besides Cotillard's first because of her singing) to enjoy the rest

Certain movies i wont give a full review just brief ones. No need if they aren't complex or have had a big impact on me.

Iron Man 2 4.5/5
Machete 4/5
Green Zone 3.5/5 (No Bourne but still a decent movie)

I thought it was unique with good acting, but it wasn't "great." I didn't find the story as interesting as the premise. The way it played out was not masterful or mind-blowing. It was somewhat suspenseful and subtle, but dry and not engaging. And the cinematography was largely unremarkable. I have no desire to see it again based on my first viewing, but of all the movies I've dismissed as subpar, I would say this film merits a second viewing. Maybe my opinion will change. What bewilders me most is I honestly tried to like it and saw it with a group of friends who were all impressed. For me, it was worth the watch but nothing more than a one and done (© Diesel).

Catch Me If You Can

Director: Steven Spielberg
Writers: Jeff Nathanson and Frank Abagnale Jr. (book)
Mains: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and Christopher Walken

"People Believe what you tell them...."

Plot (IMDb): A true story about Frank Abagnale Jr. who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor.

My Take: First off im mad that I've just seen this movie for the first time. This is a true entertaining little film. I pretty much enjoyed the entire movie. There where only a couple of things I didnt like about the film. Mostly the unrealistic escapes, besides that i thought the movie was pretty much great. Steven Spielberg is truly a great director and this movie shows off his work very well. DiCaprio is amazing right along with Hanks and Walken. Like I mentioned im mad at myself for seeing this movie so late. Catch Me If You Can is a fast paced little thriller. Thats not it all it has to offer, the simple fact that a lot of the things that are happening are because of his childhood. The movie was slick and well done and thats enough said.

Conclusion: If you like movies in general I cant see you not enjoying this great. The movie offers a lot and puts you on the edge of your seat at times. Steven Spielberg is one of the greatest directors period and it shows big time in the feature title. I enjoyed and I cant wait to see it again.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

It's supposed to be a very dark movie to keep the suspense. I love the mix of characters and the pace of the film. I need to watch this one again now...

Conclusion: If you like movies in general I cant see you not enjoying this great. The movie offers a lot and puts you on the edge of your seat at times. Steven Spielberg is one of the greatest directors period and it shows big time in the feature title. I enjoyed and I cant wait to see it again
.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

4.5/5
