John what do you use currently to power your beautiful Totems?

EDIT: looks like a Yamaha from your gallery pics?

If so let me go on record here to say YOU of all people NEEEEED an amp knowing that you are a music lover. An amp will put new life into your musical totems, im sure you know this though. But i guess what i mean is that having an amp is worth every penny for a music lover.

There is no question that a standalone amp is required, but my upgrades for this year are spoken for (cabling and acoustic treatments).

Hopefully 2010 will see one major upgrade, and that could very well be an amp, but I'm going to have to research that some more. When the new monoblocks are released I'll send EMO an email and get the details as to shipping and the like. As long as our dollar remains relatively at par, it may be a serious option.

John

PS~ And yes, my Totem's need a quality amp to pair with!. The Yamaha 6190 isn't cutting it for 2-channel.

I did but I think I should move it up an inch more. Its hard when ur the only man in the house. I had to have my girl help me lift it off the mount so I can move the two metal bars that's attached to the tv up. Its gonna be hard convincing her to do it again. I might have too put the other foot down

But why not completely redo it so the center can be entirely under the tv?

Heh, actually, I did get it to a relatively decent volume this morning and was a/b'ing it with FLAC sources streamed and output as PCM via HDMI with my PS3. The PS3 has been my source for music for a while now since my old CD player has been on the outs. Anyway, I was never completely satisfied with what I was getting out of the PS3 and is why I decided to try the ERC. There's indeed a noticeable difference, particularly with soundstage depth and detail. I'm happy so far.

I don't know how accurate that is, but I feel that I get better sounding music from my Apple TV.

If it wasn't for me just buying Dirt 2, I'm not sure if my PS3 would ever get used anymore.
Hi Lou, it's been a while since this post, but I just wanted to follow-up with some impressions on the default 48kHz sampling frequency for music with the PS3. I just discovered in the "music" settings that you can set the frequency to 44.1 kHz output from the PS3. I never noticed this setting before so I'm not sure if it was a result of the ver 3.x update. Anyway, after playing with this setting, I'm MUCH more satisfied with the output from the PS3, the most noticeable difference being dynamics. I have no idea what the PS3 is doing at 48 kHz, but it really sounds like the sound is leveled and not as dynamic, which ultimately I think is taking away from the soundstage. One drawback that I found with this feature is that the PS button won't allow browsing other music files while another file is playing. As soon as you hit the PS button the PS3 prompts if you want to stop playback instead of allowing you to browse files. Anyway, I'm still going back & forth with the freq settings to be sure I'm not just hearing things, but so far I'm convinced. I may be sending back the ERC-1 and trying out a DAC.
