With a credit card that might not matter but for debit cards coming out of a checking account that can vary in current available balance, it definitely can be problematic. It's a lousy practice.
I have to give financial advice here, please never use your debit card to purchase anything. Always use a credit card for security reasons.

Does anyone have a sense if the 4k box set is going to be oop or really limited since each movie will be released individually anyways?

I missed all the pre-order links (and that Best Buy one looks kinda questionable), and I'm wondering if I should plan on hitting up Target/Best Buy/Walmart stores first thing on release day ?

Picking up the Set. It's kind of funny that Paul Feig made a stink about his film not being included so they are just slapping a digital code in there. I'll probably just redeem the others and then burn the remaining code for Answer the Call.

It's hard to say. This can be like the GB 1/2 steelbook and go OOP or be like RE collection where it did go OOP for a while but came back. But based on most places being OOS or no longer selling it, it seems to be leaning towards actually being limited and will go OOP.

And so far, only Afterlife is getting a single release. It is still unknown if Sony plans on releasing the updated versions of 1/2 in singles yet.

Resident Evil 4k box was gone for about a year and has stuck around so far.

Columbia Classics #1 4k box hasn't returned.
Columbia Classics #2 4k box is still around.

The only thing that makes me think that this will actually be limited is that the box and light would seem to make this more of a one off.

I only ask, cause it doesn't say on the listing on the announcement page and I'd be buying this set mostly for the extras, and if they're 4K, I wouldn't be able to see them.
4K UHD combo packs doesn't have DVDs. They include the 4K discs, Blu-ray and the digital copy.

I am in Canada so my experience is different. I haven't seen a Sony set sell out or disappear from preorders before. All the other sets, you could still order up to release and even a bit after.

It is currently no longer available on Amazon and Best Buy Canada. It also seems some of the American retailers no longer have it available.

Maybe it will come back before release but since I missed out the SB, I don't want to risk it actually being gone before release.

I would certainly not count on ANY brick and mortar stores having this on release day, or at all.

Target and Walmart for sure will not have this in their store, and Best Buy is even a stretch. I cannot remember the last time I've ever seen a premium box set of this caliber in a store and with most B&M stores carrying the bare minimum for physical media anymore, there's almost a zero percent chance you will find this anywhere local. Hell, Most Walmarts still cater heavily to DVD buyers. They're more concerned with lower priced products they can move quickly, not premium collector's sets.

Don't get me wrong, I'm agreeing with you and just don't know what to expect hence my shrug in my last post.

Just keep looking here and your favorite shops and hopefully it shows up even if just briefly.

Thanks for the piece of advice. I appreciate the concern. I do hear this advice from time to time, but don't understand it. My bank has card protection for my debit card, just like a credit card. If my account is hacked and somebody charges or makes off with a few hundred dollars, the bank will investigate and I'm covered. It's not like my money is gone permanently. Though it would certainly be a major inconvenience to be without the money while they investigate.

Best Buy is likely legit. They just put zero effort (as usual) into bothering to even put the artwork up. As astounding as that is, it's common with Best Buy with limited sets. I see it a lot.

I hate them anyways for their lousy return policy. If you get a damaged disc, good luck.

I agree that it's a toss up at this point. The only thing I can compare it to would be the Close Encounters box set which also lights up. It is still available but it's also not too bulky as the GB set is. I would put my money on this going OOP rather quickly though.

I did the exact same thing, in fact I pre-ordered the set on Christmas Day and listed my UHDs that afternoon, sold both Boxing Day evening and doing so knocked 20% off the price of the set.

I always looked at it like this...

Debit Card fraud = they have taken YOUR money and the bank etc will try and get it back but won't be in any rush

Credit Card fraud = they have taken the banks money and they will go above and beyond to get THEIR money back asap

Not accurate I know but I would feel like I have been personally robbed if someone cleaned out my account, on the other hand if they get access to my credit card and make some charges then no big loss as it will be blocked and those charges wiped in short order so never ever ever use my debit card for anything other than the few rare times I need to withdraw cash, everything else goes on the credit card.

I've gotta wait so I can compare the old discs to new, but knowing my luck I'll get about £2.50 for each one anyway.

Fully agree. Honestly, you should only use your debit card for the ATM.
