I just bought the 4k set that is from 2023 UK and I heard that BLACK PEARL & T2 are considered the worst 4k of all-time. After watching BLACK PEARL I thought the quality as good.
QUESTION: Is the UK BLACK PEARL 4k better than the American BLACK PEARL?

Probably not, but if you like it then you like it. Ultimately it doesn't matter what reviewers or randos on forums say about it, so long as you are happy with your purchase.

Even my 9-year old recognized that this looked awful. Of course, I don't let him browse on YouTube. He still has access to his higher faculties.

This is true. Black Pearl has super blown out contrast and other processing issues common of the early BD era. However I'd still take it any day over the atrocious (and old quite processed looking) UHD. My comparison to decide which to watch lasted about 2 minutes.

I was expecting very grainy, muddy transfer and scenes where they look worse than others. Instead looks alright to me. I don't see what the complaints were all about unless this 4k import has a different transfer than the American pressed.

I still think both Pearl and Heat were mis-encoded with the wrong HDR10 settings. They were released around the same time and both suffer from an extremely dim image, even with scenes supposedly taking place in broad daylight. It's not about HDR "pop" it's about not watching the movie through sunglasses.

Again I have the import and that's why I asked here if import & American are different transfers. I think I seen screen caps in the past and it did look dark. All I know is this import looked alright by me with no complaints.

So what is the #1 complaint with THE BLACK PEARL 4k. By the way my set is Atmos set.

I did not see no dim scenes in my 4k that were a problem.
My example of a dim scene on 4k is SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER night club scenes. That looked bad. FOOTLOOSE 4k had some. THE CROW 4k was to me 75% great quality 25% poor that I sold my 4k. I am picking when it comes to 4k quality but my 4k of THE BLACK PEARL import is good enough for me. That even if they had VS or Criterion do a re-master I may not upgrade.

Again: wrong, wrong, wrong. That dim looking 4K "HDR" version of Heat was on itunes back in 2018.

I recently rewatched the first POTC on Blu-ray and it's fugly as hell. What a shame such a great movie is basically forever locked as either badly dated Blu-ray or even worse looking UHD.

The Blu is a lot better. One of the better 2000s films.

I promise the picture is 100% real, but I have doubts about the video.

Edit: The picture is way bigger on Fandom and the picture was way bigger when I copied it. Now shrunk like it is, it literally looks fake.

I agree with everything but the OG Blu being terrible. I watched it a while back, and it whoops ass. I expected an old, creaky disc, and was pleasantly surprised by how stunning it was. Between the solid transfer, the PCM track (I really wish PCM sound would come back), and the bevy of special features, that disc blew me away, especially after the atrocity that was the 4K.

As much as a solid 4K of COTBP (or all of them) would be great, the Blu-ray is so amazing that if no further releases of the film happen, I'll be happy with the old Blu.
