I just think that estimate is a bit over-optimistic. $30-$40 million feels more realistic.
It's a poor box office year but personally, I am over the moon with the quality we have had. Logan, WW, Dunkirk, Spiderman and Baby driver all cracking films.

A movie doesn't need stars to make money. It will sell be its name alone.

I agree. I preferred Guardians 2 to Spider-Man, though. Also enjoyed Free Fire and Prevenge. Need another good horror in there so hopefully IT fills that gap.

So far the only movie this year that has really amazed me and given me a great time at the theater is GET OUT.

"IT" was an awesome experience visiting the Warner Bros/New Line Pop-Up Neibolt House in Los Angeles' Hollywood/Vine Street

Glad we were able to get a reservation because from what I heard from waitlist and walk-up folks they have been waiting for more than an hour.

Best part was there are a lot of "easter eggs" to find that strongly gives clues toward watching "IT"

Is that Skarsgård's laugh? His giggles in the little sneak preview were a delight to hear imo.

$50M is possible, just based on how people seem to flock to horror movies these days, and this one does have a bit of an edge due to recognition with some audiences. The higher estimates, however, are pretty ridiculous.

I don't even think it's the name. A large portion of the people who are going to see this are not familiar with the book (or previous version) at all. Horror movies just draw in huge first weekend crowds these days. I mean, look at how many crap horror films have huge openings. People will see almost anything that looks slightly scary.
