I know alot of people that would disagree. I personally like episode II alot and can't see why people slam it so much. I can understand alot of the hatred toward TPM, but there is so much that I like in episode II.

The Kamino scenes, Yoda fighting, Anakin finding his mom and then going off. The big battle in the arena. That's just to name a few.

Yeah I was suprised that one ranked so low. I guess the ewoks got the best of people, but as a whole I agree wth you it does deserve a better ranking. I think the fact that Empire was so amazing probably didn't help because people's expectations were so high.

I can't believe you guys are ganging up on someone for loving Star Wars movies in a Star Wars thread. Is it really necessary for everyone to despise the prequels?

No, it's not necessary for everyone to despise the sequels but waxing poetic about Anakin's tortured soul is gonna get eyeballs arollin'.

There's just no way around that.

The prequels are not bad. Revenge of the Sith was the second best movie of the series behind Jedi.

It's called common courtesy and respect for the opinions of others. I know this is foreign concept online.

Always room for debate my friend. But I personally think, to be fair, that taken outside of the Star Wars Universe, the films are absolutely atrocious. And within the Star Wars Universe you surely have to be able to see that to many people with 15-20yrs exposure to the OT before the prequels came along, what a shallow, hollow, cynical money making exersise they were, with huge plot holes, horrendous continuity, conflicting logic to the OT and some of the worst performances of any modern big budget movie (I'm looking at you HC... yeah, and you EM) - characters you are made to buy into rather than depending on proper story telling, plus some utterly incomprehensible actions scenes almost becoming boring. Just no love, you know...

I totally understand however, that if you watched the prequels as a small kid that your opinion would be different and that you maybe could even relate to young AS, perhaps loved the pod race, missed the racism, accepted the fauxmance in AOTC and was disappointed at the removal of Ja Ja "Yes Massir" Binks.

To each their own and I sincerely don't think less of anyone who loves the prequels. I love loads of terrible movies (The Land That Time Forgot for example)...

One thing I do disagree with (getting this back on track) is that I honestly believe Lucas has put more effort into the BR's than people are giving credit for and they will blow us away.

And for the record, I'm still buying the complete saga. Go figure...

Hey, I'm just calling things as I see them. There's certain things I'd like to be different about each of the "Star Wars" films, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying any of them. As for the whole "romance" aspects, I'm actually glad that Lucas chose to keep it minimal. Contrary to popular belief, sometimes showing less actually means more.

Kept sex minimal, sure. But kep the romance minimal? Are you serious? From the "I can't, I'm a Senator" mantras, to the rolling on the grass and riding that animal scenes, the waterfalls, the looking longingly over the lake before kissing, and the incredible fireside scenes - Lucas even threw in a bloody Gondola for goodness sake - Yes, I agree with sex scenes, sometimes less means more. But the romance, he couldn't have pasted it on with a bigger brush if he'd tried.

What on Earth is a gondola?

EDIT: Never mind, I checked; still don't get the reference, though. What does a boat have to do with the love story between Anakin & Padme?

Associated with romance and love. Its one of the most cliche symbols of a budding romance.

It's a boat. The type people take romantic trips on in Venice, the "most romantic city in the world". You know because Gondolas = Romance (for people that know what they are - that's not a dig btw). It was just a huge lazy effort to show yet more romance in a romantic setting.

What's so wrong with it? I'll admit its a little unconventional, but most of "Star Wars" is, so what's the problem?

Well, I didn't recognize the term, and as for having a boat, they were hiding out on an island; how else are they supposed to get there, without attracting a lot of attention?

I wasn't really old enough to recognize the purpose of that outfit when I first saw "Jedi", but I've spent quite some time over the years, wondering if there was any real point to it. Jabba had other girls, who wore more than Carrie did in his palace.

Moviefan,

The relationship between those two does not fail because it isn't carnal enough. It fails because it's stiff, scripted, and unbelievable. People in love simply do not act like those two did, and they really did sound like high school thespians during a rehearsal.

Han and Leia's romance had zero sex and very little lust in it at all, and it worked. It worked because Kirshner, Ford, and Fisher chucked the script and played the characters to their strengths. Both Ford and Fisher have indicated on numerous occasions that they had to alter dialogue on-the-fly for New Hope and Empire because the way Lucas had them talking was often ludicrous and unbelievable.

It's scripted and poorly acted. Again, they sound like HS kids reading from an atrociously drawn script.

From the moment I met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you. And now that I'm with you again... I'm in agony. The closer I get to you, the worse it gets. The thought of not being with you- I can't breathe. I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating... hoping that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me... what can I do?- I will do anything you ask. If you are suffering as much as I am, please tell me.

This is asinine dialog. It's so lame, so on-point... there's nothing else in any of the entire 6-film saga so awkward.

Look at the Han/Leia relationship. See anything like this ^^^^ nonsense there?

I don't know if you're being intentionally dim here, but the gondola was included because it's a traditional/cliche romantic device. That's all.

Otherwise, the boat would have looked like a bongo.
