I'm trying to keep things in perspective lol...but it's Jurrasic Friggin' Park and it's in 4k(!) and they're asking us to dip again, we were all hoping for better than "fine" or "solid"...we wanted a home run, grrr! Ah well, considering it's Universal we should be thankful, it may just well be this is as good as it's ever going to look so as long as it wasn't a complete botch job (and it doesn't seem to be, whew) I guess I'm still in.

I hope this is similar to what we'll get in the US - I like that it doesn't have the "25th collection" line on the front (in that picture anyway). I've read the US best buy steel book comes with two steel cases (4k's in one, BD's in the other), this would be perfect for me as I could just slap JP1 and JPIV in each of those individually and be done with it (they're the only two I will keep/want from this release). |

Really like that steelbook of the original!
If I didn't want JW as well I would be all over that but guess I'm buying the US collection at $50 since the original and JW will cost that much separately |

At the end of the day it isn't that big a deal, but I'm pretty disappointed in their cover art efforts so far. They at least got rid of the JPIII-style silver/steel logos and backgrounds, but now it's "make them all look like JW" instead.
I'm holding out until Fallen Kingdom's home release, so here's hoping something a bit nicer looking comes out then. Looking forward to your verdict! |

Got mine from Zoom today just like everyone else seems to have done. I only bought the first film as I'm not interested in the others and I've just finished watching it.
As far as I'm concerned this is a fantastic release. Depth and clarity are superb. Colours are very very natural. Vibrant and rich where they need to be and normal everywhere else. Some people might find them a little subdued in some scenes, but I found them just natural looking on my set-up and not over done. Reminded me a lot of the theatrical presentation that I saw over 20 times back in the day. As expected grain is pretty refined for the most part (reminded me of Gladiator). It hasn't been totally scrubbed away or anything like the 3D version and there is enough minor noise on some indoor shots and darker scenes to suggest the DNR hasn't gone into overdrive. Texture and detail on skin, clothes, vegetation etc. is very strong so the lack of a strong grain field isn't an issue (was Jurassic Park ever that grainy to begin with?). All the night scenes look great too. Detail and contrast levels are excellent and much better than previous releases. Plenty of shadow detail and depth in the darker scenes. The dinosaur effects hold up well after all these years for the most part. This is a terrific upgrade IMO and worth the purchase. Sounded great thru my AVR too. |

I almost wish the US releases were individuals instead of a box set, however that would have very probably raised the prices for all of them significantly so I digress. 4 UHD blu-rays at $50 is a steal (provided the quality is good). The individuals with slipcovers look so good though.
