You can read up on it here mate:

That's what annoys me about JW, it's all well and good having this smart-arsed commentary about the "old this" or the super shiny "corporate" that, but then it indulges itself in the very thing it's just taken the mickey out of. Hmmm.

You have these giant creatures with rows upon rows of teeth and claws and faceless no named people set up for eating/crushed/stomped. This idea is ripe for some on screen carnage. I love the existing movies and don't want them changed but a hard R approach for the next or an unrelated series would be amazing.

Also when
[Show spoiler]Zara, is dropped into the Mosasaur lagoon
the 3D makes you really feel the high fall.

Yes and no. The fact that it is the original Rex from the original movie, I think, is supposed to make up for that. Whether or not that works is up to the viewer. I chose to give it a pass, especially with the
[Show spoiler]smashing of the spinosaurus skeleton
. I'm won over easily.

There are two things in particular I'd like to see more of on the dinosaur side of things:

Firstly, more herbivores in action scenes, especially of them attacking people. The herbivores usually just show up early in the movies for the "beauty and wonder of nature" kind of scenes while the carnivores take over for the last half or even the last 2/3rds. There's an implication that they're gentle and harmless, which I think is dumb. Look at contemporary animals and you can see the herbivores are often just as dangerous as the carnivores, sometimes more. Elephants, rhinos, buffaloes and so on can be extremely aggressive, I can definitely see animals like Triceratops, Stegosaurus and Ankylosaurus being much the same under certain circumstances.

Secondly, I want more "medium-sized" carnivores. For the most part we've had smaller ones (Compsognathus, Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus) or the absolutely biggest ones (Tyrannosaurus, Spinosaurus and the fictional Indominus), but few in between. I'd like to see some species like Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Ceratosaurus (this one had a very short comic relief cameo in JPIII), etc. show up and actually get to do something.

I'd love to see a darker and more violent take on Jurassic Park if done well, but I don't think it's likely to ever happen. These movies are expensive to make, if they get an R rating they're suddenly much more risky and don't make as much sense financially. If JP is to "go horror", it has to be lower budget and I'm not sure we want that.

Me too, I'm a cheap ***** for fan service like that, my heart starts pounding and I get goosebumps when ol' Rexy is let out to fight the I. rex. Repeat viewings haven't lessened the impact of the scene for me either. I've been waiting to see the T. rex reclaim its throne for a decade and a half, and especially to see this particular T. rex again. What can I say, I get emotionally invested in CGI dinosaurs.

Everything you just said about herbivores in action scenes is why I liked TLW so much. between the stegosaur attack at the beginning, the big roundup sequence, and the camp destruction, the herbivores got to cause a lot of mayhem.

Oh yeah, that's definitely something TLW has over the other three movies. Overall I think it's the one that does the most interesting things with the dinosaurs.

All of the features were throwaway. I watched everything on the main disk and bonus disk last night. Very disappointing. Feels like they attempted to make a PIP track but gave up really fast.

The movie deserved a nice bonus disk of hours of in depth features. Oh well. Maybe on the 4K disk.

Gonna watch this movie tonight for the first time on blu. Pretty excited to see it!

I remember all the buzz around the original movie back in '93 when I was 10 years old, all the advertising and merchandise, I loved all the build up waiting until the movie came out, buying the toys and magazines and then finally going to see it and it completely blowing my mind! Lived up to every expectation and then some. I miss being a kid and having that sense of wonder and excitement. I'm too cynical as an adult so I'm going to try channel my inner child tonight!

As much as I love the first movie I never cared for the second one and consider it one of the least entertaining movies I've ever seen. Actually, I don't even know if I ever even finished it. Because of my disappointment in The Lost World I've never even bothered to watch the third one. From what I've read, it sounds like I'm not missing much.

I think the bonus features are probably as good as fluffy, EPK-style features are going to be. A simple, 45-60 minute documentary discussing the history of the fourth film, going all the way back to 2001, would have been interesting. On the one hand, some epic, multi-hour multi-faceted documentaries would have been nice. But then again, maybe there isn’t *that* much to tell.

A few interesting tidbits do come through. I nearly did a spit take when Trevorrow said his favorite moment from the original trilogy was that ridiculous RV-teetering-on-the-edge-of-the-cliff bit from “Lost World.” I’ve been pretty ambivalent about Trevorrow regarding JW; I’m not prepared to sing his praises or attack him. But mentioning *that* scene as his favorite certainly doesn’t do him any favors in the credibility department.

I also think it’s kind of comical that they pat themselves on the back so much for doing pretty much just one single in-camera practical dinosaur effect. It does kind of reinforce the idea that I’ve had about the film (and remember, I *really* like the film) that Trevorrow and Universal had a bit check list of things to make sure to get into the film. Nerd character meant to embody original 1993 nerd fans? Check. One practical dinosaur effect? Check. Quota of references to the first movie? Check. No mention of wonky sequels? Check. Dinosaur poop joke? Check, although they thankfully cut that one out.

Man, I don't think I've EVER put down so much cash for a blu-ray release. Since JP/JW is my favorite franchise, I knew this was gonna happen. But I have no regrets AT ALL! Here's what I've bought for the blu-ray release:

1.) Best Buy Exclusive t-shirt
2.) Target JW 2D Tin Exclusive
3.) Target JW 3D Amaray Exclusive
4.) Walmart Lunchbox
5.) Barnes & Noble Poster Set Exclusive
6.) JW 3D Limited Edition Giftset
7.) JW Filmarena 3D Steelbook set

I also got my Target soda & popcorn in the exclusive cup and bag and also bought 4 toys for the 15% off.

After seeing it 5 times in theaters, I finally watched JW on blu last night. Not as epic as seeing it in the theater, but damn is it a fun movie! After 14 years, this is def my second favorite JP film. Can't wait for the sequel!
