Understood. Sometimes I use the frame by frame, slo-mo, etc. to check out production techniques or effects. Since I have been retired don't use it much anymore.

Back in the day of certain types of DVD's I used certain features of the DVD player (think ∠'s) quite a bit. Some say Basic Instinct has a scene that has been watched frame by frame more than any other movie title.

Digital EST is starting to crumble. It appears Walmart may be preparing to sell Vudu. It looks like rentals and EST can’t compete with subscription and Digital HD is flopping big time.

I wonder who would buy it and what their plans would be.

Another Steed prediction coming true?

EST is dying on its ass, they would have to open up a subscription angle I think.

I noticed that thread, too. Potential panic brewing about Vudu over there.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=322828

I offer to buy Vudu for $5 in Monopoly money.

There seems to be continuing tumult in the digital landscape, but I don't think it is in any imminent danger of collapse. It does kind of look like a game of hot potato; "Who wants to be a digital seller? Here, catch!"

I wonder if this is the "Great Shakeout" that alchav was so excited about?

It wasn’t the thread that first alerted me, it was online tech news.

Yeah, the silence is very telling in regards to EST. No one is even on the top floor, yet alone singing/shouting from the rooftops.

Walmart certainly wouldn't be looking to sell a top performing asset, but they would be eager to unload an under performing liability.

It looks like Walmart's lack of faith will create a disturbance in the force as spoken here by Darth Vudu:

If this keeps up, those digital code sheets might truly be worth more as toilet paper. That's a fulfilled prophecy worth braggin' about.

Counting their digital sheep, probably, ever worried that they might lose some of them. Increasingly for good reason, it appears.

If you're anxious to kick them while they're down, at least take off those steel-toed shit kicker boots of yours. I am wearing fuzzy house slippers myself.

I got an email from Vudu offering me a $2 credit if I watch one of their expiring "free with ads" movies, tonight only. They offer a film called Cursed; kinda seems both ironic and appropriate. It's like getting $2 to spend in the Titanic's gift shop.

That’s the Christina Ricci one? It was very average, just like digital AV quality.

Speaking of horror............

1,2 disc is coming for you
3,4 there goes another digital store
5,6 grab a Netflix
7,8 Digital HD has a dark fate
9,10 never collect again

I didn't look closely; it's some werewolf story, I think. These offers rarely contain great choices and when they do I usually already own them.
