Yeah seriously! The reason he chose it was due to the tension in the scene. Besides, are we all supposed to choose the same scenes as our favorites? Good for him for being different.

Save for the stupid banter about picking up fast food, I'd say the RV scene in Lost World is at least in the top 5 scenes in the JP franchise. Better than anything in JP3 or Jurassic World that's for sure!

Obviously, implicit in my comment was not that Trevorrow is not allowed to have an opinion. I would even give him some props for not just picking any one of the obvious scenes from the first film.

Implicit in my comment was that, obviously, *I'm* not a huge fan of that sequence in the second film. I've never heard it held up as a high point in the film series (I suppose many of us would name it as one of the more tense moments among parts two and three), so I was surprised that Trevorrow named that sequence.

Trevorrow would also be allowed to say his favorite moment in the series is the raptor talking to Alan in the third film. I would also simply find that kind of surprising.

No, the RV scene isn't as absurd as the talking raptor dream sequence. But frankly, the RV scene was just a generic implausible action movie trope. I actually find the talking raptor more entertaining; it's funnier.

1.) Best Buy Exclusive t-shirt
2.) Target JW 2D Tin Exclusive
3.) Target JW 3D Amaray Exclusive
4.) Walmart Lunchbox
5.) Barnes & Noble Poster Set Exclusive
6.) JW 3D Limited Edition Giftset
7.) JW Filmarena 3D Steelbook set
At least JW won't go through as many format changes as older movies. For example, I have owned no fewer than 3 VHS versions, laser disc, DVD, DVD Collector's Series, and Blu-ray of 2001: A Space Odyssey, with the inevitable 50th anniversary 4K Blu-ray to follow. I could set up cabinets for the all of the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars movie versions, books about the movies, and related merchandise.

BTW, I like those JW t-shirts.

But mentioning *that* scene as his favorite certainly doesn’t do him any favors in the credibility department.

I also think it’s kind of comical that they pat themselves on the back so much for doing pretty much just one single in-camera practical dinosaur effect. It does kind of reinforce the idea that I’ve had about the film (and remember, I *really* like the film) that Trevorrow and Universal had a bit check list of things to make sure to get into the film. Nerd character meant to embody original 1993 nerd fans? Check. One practical dinosaur effect? Check. Quota of references to the first movie? Check. No mention of wonky sequels? Check. Dinosaur poop joke? Check, although they thankfully cut that one out.
Not to mention the fact that the idiot director admitted that while filming the final sequence that he didn't even understand what he was filming at one point, because ILM was going to take care of it later.

I cannot believe he thought that was a smart thing to admit to, instead of be ashamed of - given how terribly directed the film was, he's probably the luckiest SOB ever to live that it came out as well as it did. Amateur hour would be offensive to amateurs.

Is this worth a blind buy? missed this in theaters, and the review was kind of so-so. Thought of getting the 3D version.

You must be in the minority because the man received Star Wars in return for his work on Jurassic World, so apparently Disney thought he did a great job too.

If you enjoyed the original Jurassic Park then you will more than likely enjoy Jurassic World.

You missed the 3D tin, which I believe was exclusive to Best Buy & Amazon. (The BB version is listed separately here as if the T-shirt was part of the package, but it wasn't; it has the same UPC as Amazon.) Most BBs sold out of it the first day, but Amazon still has it in stock -- though with a warning that they won't be getting any more when it runs out.

I also got my Target soda & popcorn in the exclusive cup and bag and also bought 4 toys for the 15% off.

After seeing it 5 times in theaters, I finally watched JW on blu last night. Not as epic as seeing it in the theater, but damn is it a fun movie! After 14 years, this is def my second favorite JP film. Can't wait for the sequel!
FYI, my local Walmart has a tin version as well. I though they only had the standard case and the lunchboxes, but was surprised to see tins when I went into the store yesterday to do my grocery shopping.

If Jurassic Park nostalgia with a lot more CGI and cheesy tone sounds good to you, then get it.

an overall score of 4.5 while earning a "highly recommended" from the reviewer is a "so-so" review??

As far as the tins go, all JW tins were available at all retailers under the "exclusive limited steel packaging" much like with Fast 6 a few years ago. The 3D tin was available in the limited edition giftset as well. So as far as I know, I have all the exclusives except for the FYE tote bag. But there aren't any open down here. I'm gonna try and snag one on eBay soon.

I believe most retailers did have 2D tins of JW as well as the earlier JP films (and I do recall seeing the 3D tin in the limited edition giftset unboxing videos), but AFAIK Best Buy was the only B&M to have the 3D tin separate from the giftset.

No, it was...

JW 2D Amaray
Jw 3D Amaray
JW 2D Tin
JW 3D Tin
JW Gift Set with Tin

Then whatever retailer exclusives are out there.

The first three films are only available in tins at Best Buy, there are exclusive to them.

Watched this last night and watching it again right now. Good movie but after this time I doubt I'll ever watch it again. It's fun but very redundant of the first movie and completely predictable. They really played it safe. May as well be a remake.

I kind of wish my Wal-Mart lunchbox had a sandwich inside instead of the Blu-ray. Oh well.

Yet it's good enough to watch 2 days in a row?

If they were good enough, fair play. I'm just used to features like Hellboy 2, the hobbit extended editions, Prometheus 3D, Edgar Wright films, Etc have. This was like Harry Potter. Just a couple mediocre "look how incredible everything is, the movie is amazing YAY!" Features. I didn't learn anything about the production. Nothing about what attracted the actors, why they chose the script they did, why they chose to just use mediocre cgi, etc.
