Does $1,200 sound like a good deal for 4 pairs of RC-10's? Since they are only sold in pairs I'll have to get 8 speakers and just have one leftover, guess I could always sell the extra one and that would cut down on the actual costs for the system as well.

They retailed at about 550-600$ a pair and was voted the best bookshelf for under 1000$ pair back in 2006 by soundstage. http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/energy_rc10.htm |

Tremendous value and it will outperform a lot of lower end floorstanders. They can handle up to 175 watts rms, not that it matters that much but the extend at 50hz +/-3 db. Set the X-over to 60hz on the receiver for all speakers and you will see how great they really are. I know you're kind of doing a blind buy but they are easy on the ears smooth mids and highs and can fill a room quite large. Honestly I almost rather have a 7.1 RC-10 then my Connoisseur C-Series setup. Of course my C-500 have more bass and can rock but the sound is even better with th RC-10 you hear things that you don't even distinguish in the C-500. What receiver are you planning to use with them? Last edited by BigAl87; 05-20-2010 at 01:27 AM. |

I actually have been considering bookshelfs in my next setup with Dynaudio speakers because I cannot afford the towers. I would not go from towers to bookshelfs if I was gonna lose anything. For straight 2-channel music w/o a sub, towers are typically better because they will provide the bass your looking for in a speaker in that type of application. However there are some bookshelfs that have good slam. Beta Man uses B&W 700 series bookshelfs in his HT, Hamp uses Monitor Audio RX2 bookshelfs in his HT application. I know there are several others too. There is one person using eD WT 6T6 bookshelfs, and his is just like your thinking, he has 3 of them upfront behind his drop down screen. I have C-300s that have a single driver in my towers and I can say they play a lot better then the Polk TSi 400s that have 3 drivers. You really want to have good mid-range and highs from the fronts because you will have a sub for the deep lows. Your gonna be fine. |

They are Small but really they sound big!!! I'm sure you'll be surprised and amazed by their performance. Don't forget a good 100 hours break in for the RC. I believe they will open up alot after this I mean they may even sound muffled in the begining with dialog so it's kind of hard to judge a speaker when you get it out of the box. Most speaker performance and or sound does not change alot after break in but Energy sound quite different with time you hear them evolve. Other companies also have tremendous sound difference after the break in period like Totem Accoustic. |

What really amazes me is they are even using diufferent drivers from bookshelf to Tower in the same Speaker family to get even better timber matching because of cabinet constraints in the bookshelf. Example the Dreamcatcher has aluminum and the Arro has a soft dome tweeter but are part of the same family and they make a great combo. I believe most of their Aluminum dome tweet are MB Quart. Break in can go from 40 to 200 hours depending on model for Totem. Last edited by BigAl87; 05-20-2010 at 01:43 AM. |

Well another reason why I bought a 2nd set of the C-100 is because one of my C-100 doesn't sound right with the other one. So what I did was bought the 2nd pair and I left the bad speaker out. I had it worked on through warranty last year but it looks like it wasn't resolved so I didn't bother calling back or I didn't feel like shipping it back out.
So right now I have (3) C-100 speakers, and the C-C50 as my surrounds. |
