There are two new people in my building. Both walk around with perpetual smiles on their faces. I'm beginning to think it's some kind of quirk or even a mental condition. They literally have their mouths open showing teeth every time I see them. It's freaky

So many posts here of you doing that. You're not an idiot. I think that was a generalization. Your generation gets picked on. |

and I can tell you, those "millennials" born during those times (1980s) are those I trust more than a lot of the younger ones, now. like you, my dad taught how to do a lot of stuff...of which i'm forever grateful. but man, some kids today just have NO clue when it comes to things that I consider common sense and knowing how to be handy around a home/car. so i'll consider you a "gen y", Xtempo. you seem like a good person with a good head on yer shoulders. ![]() |

Yep, I'm Gen X for sure!
![]() Generation X (or Gen X) is the demographic cohort following the baby boomers and preceding the Millennials. Demographers and researchers typically use birth years ranging from the early-to-mid 1960s to the early 1980s. Generation Xers were children during a time of shifting societal values and as children were sometimes called the "latchkey generation", due to reduced adult supervision as children compared to previous generations, a result of increasing divorce rates and increased maternal participation in the workforce, prior to widespread availability of childcare options outside the home. In the 1990s they were sometimes characterized as slackers, cynical and disaffected. |

Any way I ended up replacing the bulb in our rental house last night, and of course the tenant gave me another bs laundry list to tend to. I'm starting to think they re just looking for attention at this point. |

Men are expected to be handy and know how to repair anything "out of instinct". Sorry, I was born without that gene. Part of the reason I'm not handy is because my dad, who was also all thumbs, didn't teach me anything. Dads are supposed to teach their children how to fix stuff, how to drive and fix cars, etc., but that never happened with me. My dad never even learned how to drive and now he's regretting it (I think). But now, because of Youtube, anyone can learn pretty much anything. I can't fault my dad for being the way he is, though, since he likely grew up under similar circumstances. He did pretty good raising 5 kids on an average salary.

I don't get it ^
Things have fallen in place for me to go back to work early. I don't like leaving my FurBrats, but I'm not accomplishing anything while off. At least I'll make a bit more moola. |

Is anyone else following the Boeing Max 8 story? I watched a documentary the other day about the launch (or, failed launch I should say) of the Boeing Dreamliner 10 years ago - that was some truly scary stuff. As retaliation for a Union strike, Boeing shifted some key operations to North Carolina (they're now based in Chicago) that employed practically anyone off the street, including dopeheads!! There was insider footage taken of random people installing electrical wiring and others talking about buying and using weed. Man, that company has a very troubled history and now comes this Max 8 disaster. Will they never learn? I'm going to be very nervous next time I get on a plane

So as everyone knows I’ve been filling out applications and it has me wondering how anyone can expect qualified candidates on shit pay and hours? I am very thankful for chain retailer getting back to me on the same day I applied, but I need more than $10 and 20 hours to justify going 30 minutes over to the next town. It reminds me of a earlier rant I had with the Target HR person. You want a qualified electronics associate, but only want to pay $13 an hour. Timmy or Tammy aren’t going to quit a job where they have seniority for part time pay
