New interview with Simon Pegg:
http://www.nydailynews.com/entertain...ampaign=buffer

His best quote? About the prequels, naturally...
Quote:
"I don't really have any respect for anyone who thinks those films are good. They’re not,” he told the News. “(They’re) a monumental misunderstanding of what the (original) three films are about,” he said. "It's an exercise in utter infanticide ... (like) George Lucas killing his kid."
Then there was talk about E7:
Quote:
"To knock out ideas with (director) J.J. (Abrams), and every single day, whether you were on the set of something you recognized or a set that was brand new, it just felt like 'Star Wars' in a way that I hadn't felt in 32 years," the British actor says, referring to time since the release of the 1983 installment, "Return of the Jedi." "It was genuinely magical.”
I love this man.

It would also make for a very interesting plot. For me, it would call in to question what happened to Kylo to bring him to that point, and what mistakes were made by
[Show spoiler]his parents
. It would also make Darth Vader
[Show spoiler]Kylo's grandfather
!

I wouldn't mind this at all!

It could also explain Luke's absence -
[Show spoiler]perhaps Luke attempted to train Kylo as a Jedi, only for him to fall to the Dark Side.
. That would be traumatic.

I was never aware that Pegg disliked the prequels until now, I don't know why he never mentioned it before.

It's odd to not hear him being the Simon Pegg PR agency for once

Also gives us ammo against the "YOU JUST WANT OLD TREK HA HA" crowd. Even the director knows that movie's script was flawed.

Um, no. He didn't say they were bad. Pretty much EVERY movie is flawed, especially the classic (and TNG) TREK films. I love them all.

I was thinking that if this is the case, is there going to be some sort of big reveal, a 'la, "No, I am you Father."? The "new" generation's equivalent of Darth's bombshell.

If that turns out to be the case, I think that'd be pretty lame and pretty lazy writing.

Boy I wish Simon Pegg wasn't involved with this franchise. His opinion of the prequels is fine (I'm not a huge fan of them either) but as someone who is now involved with the franchise I find his attitude really unprofessional.

Shut up and get over it.

It's easy to overlook the fact that George Lucas allowed him to work on The Clone Wars (you know, that prequel-era animated TV show!) despite his constant personal insults both in his work and outside of it for the best part of the last 16 years. It makes me respect Lucas even more that he had the class to rise above it, even when Pegg is insulting towards, and saying he has no respect for, both the man who created the whole thing in the first place and huge number of fans who disagree with him and think the prequels are good films.

I respect him for the work of his I like, but I think his attitude to those with a different view to him is quite nasty and intolerant, and more than a little patronising.

You just outlined all the things I love about him. Thank you In a world full of fakery, ass-kissing and worrying about your next meal, he doesn't give a crap. At all.

And, btw, you spelled patronizing incorrectly.

Actually, no, he didn't.

UK/US difference in spelling. Not to patronise you, but look it up.

I don't agree, but you made me laugh so 'thank you' right back at you.

But, as a mod, you've got to appreciate that this discussion never became volatile AND involved good-natured ribbing from both sides. I should, at least, get points for that!
