The PQ on my pro-calibrated VT60 was fantastic. I usually ignore screen captures and none I've seen are close to representing how superb the blu-ray looks.

I hadn't seen Godzilla, but I was expecting it to be as good as King Kong. Ugh, not even close. The special effects are tremendous, but the plot and character development was pretty bad. The acting is mediocre at best. Writing below par. Really choppy flow. So much potential. Is the forum consensus overwhelmingly positive?

It worked then but it doesn't work now. Gareth said this Godzilla was being made for an entirely new audience. I guess he and the writers weren't aware that audiences these days don't want to be teased, they want to see the main attraction, and a lot of it.

If it didn't come included with one of my Blu-ray sets, I wouldn't even own it.

That should be obvious. It was meant to get a chuckle out of people. Not serious at all, a tad on the sarcastic side.

Cloverfield and Godzilla both suffered from it. Both films had great marketing campaigns that got asses in the seats on OW, then both fell like a rock afterwards. I enjoyed Cloverfield more.

Cloverfield has its generation of fans and it showed less of the monster.

Except G's atomic breath would burn Kong's hands. Hell, just powering up would singe Kong's junk if he tried to staddle Godzilla's back. Plus, this Godzilla knows this technique, as he's used it himself.

This post actually made me sick to my stomach.

I thought Cloverfield was a great monster movie, don't understand some of the hate it gets.

Probably because of the constant shaky cam. It about made me and the wife nauseous when we saw it in the theater.

If the entire movie was Godzilla fighting other monsters, causing mayhem and destruction for two hours, people would hate that, too.

Funny, I just realized I've never seen a "found-footage" film in theaters, so I don't know how nauseous I'd get watching it on a big screen (if at all). At home, I have no problem watching it.

I thought the first one (cutting from the Hawaii fight to the kid watching it on tv) was actually kinda clever. "Look mom, dinosaurs!" But when they kept doing it later in the film, it got frustrating real quick. Still really enjoyed the movie, though.

I pretty much make it a rule to only watch found-footage films at home now. Cloverfield was a mess at the theater when I went to see it but I've learned to really like it on home viewings. That was the movie that made me make this a hard and fast rule.

As for Godzilla, I've got a few issues with it, but the amount of screen time for Godzilla is absolutely not one of them. I have a hard time imagining people wanting more fighting monsters then they got, but that said, there has to be something ligit about that criticism because it is quickly becoming the conventional wisdom about this film.
