Lost World has isolated sequences that work but I've never cared for the movie as a whole. Same goes for III, but to a lesser extent.

I'll never get the hate for TLW. I love that it's darker and more savage, and it has fantastic setpieces, some of the best in the franchise - the T-Rex in San Diego, the raptor chase, the trailer cliffhanger. Even Williams' score is different, harsher. The movie is a blast. I would never trade it for JPIII or JW.

III is the weakest film but only because the family wasn't interesting enough to be the focus. The "Allen" scene is also poorly realized and thus rightly criticized.

Anyone else think Universal will release the 4K blu-ray set of the first four to tie into this one?

If they do, it’ll hopefully be close to the work they did to restore and release E.T. in 4K (at least for the first one).

I was wondering this myself. I need a 4k set in my life.

The Jurassic World BD looks so damn good, I can only imagine how amazing it'll look on UHD.

The Lost World is one of those movies that was always going to be a let down to some degree no matter how good it was. After the game changer that was Jurassic Park there was no chance it was going to live up to that. Taken as a sequel to the original it feels like a much lesser film. Taken on its own merits its a great movie with some of the best action of the series.

I kind of enjoyed the last act but at the same time it was kinda bad. It turned the rex into a cartoon character. In hindsight I see quite a few of the same Spielberg sequel issues in the Lost World that are present in the forth Indiana Jones movie.

The Lost World has a few decent set ups, but its payoffs are often underwhelming, and it's also a movie that goes really, really stupid in key singular moments, from the gymnastics routine while raptors are bearing down on them, to the Japanese tourists being chased in San Diego.

Some of y'all need to grow a sense of humor. That scene with the Japanese tourists is an obvious - and funny - nod to the Godzilla movies. And it lasts about a second. I always figure that character was thinking, "Oh no, not again". Funny.

I agree in that the film has a few too many moments of silly distraction. Like I say the entire city ending is one big joke essentially. Look at the contrast between that ending and the Explorer attack in the original, or even the trailer attack earlier in the film in regards to the rex. It goes from a genuine predator to a dinosaur caricature. Even its one kill (if I am not mistaken) in a packed city was off screen as apposed to the pretty graphic death of the lawyer in the first. The tourists running, the giant doughnut rolling by, the little girl pointing it out to her parents outside the window as they both comically scream etc. While I enjoy the left turn it took to a certain degree the whole third act was, like I say, a comical detour.

4K Blu-ray discs of the first 3 have already been announced. They're coming next year; possibly before JW2's release.

This is undoubtedly. We can expect a 4K release of all of them Q2 of next year in time for this new one.

Kinda makes me wish I didn't own the UK set of the first three films.

I can't help but always chuckle at that scene whenever it comes on.
