That blows. I have no desire getting the SB because of the stacker discs and plain look.

Had to call BB, but they did a price match to the Amazon $49.99 from the $89.99 they charged for my pre-order. It was supposed to honor the lowest price they had, but it didn't. No biggie I guess. Took about 7 mins for the call. Mine has shipped btw

There were three scenes that drew my attention to this cropping problem.

The first was the early scene where the Brachiosaurus pushes his front legs in the air to grab the top branch of the tree it was eating from. It's head gets cut off at times.

Second scene that stood out the most for me was the top and bottom part of the T-rex's head getting cut off as it is roaring towards the camera just after it pushes the car off the cliff in the rain.

The last scene that also stood out was the front of the top part of the T-rex's jaw not staying in the frame throughout it's final roar after killing the Velociraptors and the "Dinosaurs ruled the earth" banner falls down in front of him.

None of the above examples were cut off on the old DVD's from the early 2000's and I've always found it distracting and disappointing on the Blu-ray's.

The cropping has also been pointed out by others on other forums on this site. It's really not cropped a lot but just enough to bother me.

Any confirmation on this would be greatly appreciated.

So who on here is making covers for these so I can take them out of the cardboard boxset and put them in their own individual cases?

I'm surprised that barely anyone gives a ... about Part II and III. This are the most important ones for me in regards to having a possible massive improve compared to the Blu-rays (thanks for the short ranking though).

Can anyone elaborate a little more about Lost World's / JP III's picture quality? Thank you...

Seems like TLW got a great treatment, and JP3 is the worst one...

Based on the reviews from the users on here it seems picture quality is ranked as:

1) Jurassic World
2) The Lost World
3) Jurassic Park
4) Jurassic Park 3

Would like to see screen caps on the sequels to compare. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Lol. Fixed.

By the way these movies are available now on VUDU 4K UHD. I took a look at Jurassic Park and it looks decent enough. Better than the last 2 transfers that we've gotten. If only Terminator 2 could get a decent transfer after so many tries. Now bring on Jaws, Terminator 1, Alien/Aliens, Predator, The Thing, and The Back to the Future trilogy on 4K UHD!

JW should easily be the best looking disc without a doubt.

Here's a closer approximation of how it should look
That is missing a profile would explain why i wasn't able to recover the wrangler's original beige tone.
I really hope the UHD is closer to this than the other pic.

So you just want the old BD in 4K.
Don't you see pink everywhere?

I only have screencaps of one of those moments. And the brachiosaurus just before and after it's up on its hind legs. I didn't notice the UHD having any difference in framing compared to the BD though.
Hope these helps:

Why were these even cropped. Its not like they were full screen to begin with and not black bar wide screen either. They fit perfectly on wide screen tv.

Theatrical was 1.85.

I don't know if the full 35mm frame was blocked top/bottom to get 1.85 or if the film was turned sideways along the lines of Super 35.

I dont know nothing about color profiles, so most likely I have chosen the wrong color profile , and that's why pink color is everywhere. But at least I can see colors now, befere these screenshots were totally desaturated.

And here's comparison with BD

The old BD (not the 3d release) had a fair bit of EE...I'm not seeing anyone mention it being an issue now on the 4k so that's more good news (to go with improved color, better resolution/clarity and contrast). Looking forward to this!

Indeed, EE on first BD was very strong and because of that ringing was clearly visible.

I hope we will see some reviews very soon

I took some photos using my camera phone of the VUDU UHD version for comparison. Once again these are not the best way to portray screen caps but it is to give an idea. Also I apologize for some glare/reflections seen in the photos. I took these pictures during the day with the blinds shut.

Sorry to be sounding like a broken record player, but these new BD are the exact same as before with no new mastering? The PQ and AQ are the same quality as previous releases? And only the 4K got the full mastering treatment?
How limited will the steelbook be after release?
