Why is the one person here so bent out of shape?!
Jon is cool, he's inviting people to a party where he'll DJ at the end of the month. He's making moves and selling discs and OrbitDVD is part of the plan. A ton of people preordered through them and the street date is way down on the totem pole of priority. Lighten up! Last edited by Mindfather; 03-14-2023 at 12:36 AM. |

I have many FCE releases, all with slipcover. I don't want that to change. I have bought them all from the VS site, but, as I'm sure you all know, Party Girl is not on it for some reason.
Is there any way of knowing if you will get a slip from the smaller boutique sellers? As pointed out earlier, the Orbit listing is down. But how about from Bull Moose? Diabolik? There is no mention of a slipcover in their listings. |

Hey let's give this poor guy a break...
He apparently lurks on these threads for ten straight years... And then just today breaks his silence in order to really rip me a new one... And now he's gotta wait another 10 before he can do it again... I mean... a decade of frustration can be pretty intense I guess... [Show spoiler]

For Diabolik... if it says "LE" in the listing... then you'll get the slip... Orbit will say "w/Slip" in their listing title... Grindhouse's listing will say "LIMITED EDITION" which means slip... I can't speak to Bullmoose as I've probably only ordered from them once or twice over the years... |

Completely agree on Amazon's absolute garbage mailers. Those jackasses ship me everything from a single disc, right up to the Lukas Moodysson Collection set in those pieces of no protection offering trash. |

It's no secret that it costs more to order a film through any said small, indie boutique. But, what you pay for - you get... mint product that arrives in a box (no bubble mailers)... guaranteed slipcovers... folks who are very aware of collector's wants and cater to that... selection you won't find on a larger store site (especially imports)... not having your package get lost in a plethora of other non-related orders... and yes - possibly getting the release a little early. These are all reasons why paying a few bucks more to order from boutiques is worth it (to me and others). Plus, you are supporting small business which is also important to me (and I'm sure important to many others on here). And so... when something like this occurs... it kind of affect the benefit of what you pay extra for... So no... not at all "entitled"... just wanting what you pay extra for... and not wanting to see the boutique lose any edge they have over the big box stores. Quote:
In my experience, the best way to ensure you will receive a slipcover for any release is to order through a boutique. Yes, it costs more than Amazon - but (for all the reasons listed above) it's the best way for discerning collectors to get releases with all the bells and whistles in the best condition possible - hands down. ![]() |

I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like someone who orders from a smaller company is suddenly going to start ordering from Amazon just because a smaller company now has to sit on shipping until street date. Is anyone that cares about a title from a boutique label who also wants slipcover to come in good condition going to take a chance and order from a company that throws it in a bag haphazardly and ships it with thousands of other items stacked on top of it? That said, if the seller has been sent stock for a bunch of preorders they can fill, why wait? The units have already been sold via pre-orders. This whole thing seems like silly micromanagement.

I purchased 'Party Girl' from Amazon. Also purchased Jeremy (non-slip). But every other release has been from VS. Sometimes it makes sense to purchase from Amazon. In this case it did to me.

But usually it's Shout Factory or Criterion... since both of those labels in the last 2 years have been plagued by out-of-the-box scratched discs... It makes returning damaged goods for a replacement fast and easy. I also use Amazon for Kino and WAC releases... unless Kino is having one of their countless sales... and I want enough to justify the free shipping tier... But indie labels... boutiques are the way to go. ![]() ![]() |

Keep in mind when they were with VinSyn like for I think their final OCN - Vin Syn Partner title, they don’t have hard street dates since they get out Sub orders etc and try to get them out as fast as possible. That’s why I didn’t see the big deal with Party Girl getting out copies early. To me its usually always good wors of mouth Unless it would contain errors (which I don’t expect from FCE) |
