I'll be honest, with the tenuous state of 3D blu-ray releases my advice is to buy when one can. These aren't mass pressings with tens or hundreds of thousands of discs. The reward is $5-10 vs the risk of potentially not having a disc at all.

A lot of PC's with newer HDMI 2.0 support cannot output Frame Packed 3D properly as the LSPCON basically doesn't support it properly (the chip that converts DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 internally). However, some PC's still support the legacy HDMI 1.4 internally which bypasses the LSPCON which can still do Frame Packed 3D. For example, my Ghost Canyon if connnected to a HDMI 2.0 source uses the LSPCON so 3D doesn't work; if I connect to a compatible HDMI 1.4 source (or limit to 1.4) it does work.

At this rate we probably would require a specific DisplayPort to HDMI 1.4 (or 2.0/2.1) adaptor/cable that explicitly is built to support Frame Packed 3D to ensure it works as it is very hit and miss with newer PC's now.

No; last I heard JB Hifi pulled out of reselling SM: NWH 3D completely, if you ordered from them you would need to follow up to see if they are still shipping it or what they are planning to do if you had an order with them for it. So only RSM, Sanity or Kicks were selling it within Australia.

I’m in US. As of this moment, it is not available at RSM, JB hi-fi, Sanity, Kicks or Amazon US. It was available on Amazon UK as bradipolpo mentioned above (thanks!), so ordered there, despite long delivery times to US. Was waiting for RSM to restock, or for it to appear on Amazon US, but figured best get it now. Amazon also has good tracking/refunds, etc.

Feels great to have the Tom Holland "trilogy" in 3D...even if the style (and country) has changed over the past 5 years and every manufacturer's just 'forgotten' what blu ray slipcovers are.

Also for those that wanted an in-hand attempt, this IS region locked to B. I temporarily changed my player region to try it and it popped up with the Hotel Transylvania 3 'wrong region' card. (Someone forgot to change the image to Spiderman)

I did pop it in my Panasonic UB820 to see if I could do the top menu trick with it but nothing doing I’m afraid. That being said, I’ve never had any luck with that trick, so I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or I’ve only tried discs that are region locked in a way that can’t be bypassed. There are two interesting things to note though:

1) this does seem different from other times I tried the trick - from the ‘wrong region’ screen pressing stop then quickly spamming the top menu button (or pressing it once) does make the disc do some loading before it brings up the same screen again. I don’t know if that’s an encouraging sign, or normal, or if I’m just doing it wrong. I’ll be watching it on my Oppo anyway.

thanks for checking!

I received (part of) my order yesterday. The two items came in separate bags with Amazon branding.

Just out of curiosity, can anyone confirm whether the 2D Blu-ray included in this package is also region B locked?

I don't think so, since the disc is the same as the indian one (it features hindi, tamil and telugu, as well as italian and other eastern europe tracks)

If need be, you can take the file on the disc and "unpack" it yourself, convert the MVC into a 1920*2160 full TAB (or 3840*1080 full SBS) and pipe that to the projector.

Since I might be in the same boat with the ps3 region locking, I'm interested in your progress on this.
As far as I have been able to determine, the graphics card drivers (AMD and Nvidia) stopped supporting 3D frame-packed output a couple years ago. I have a 2080. Since I use my PC for VR I can’t downgrade the drivers. I have considered 4k sbs as an option but I have 2 issues… 1) When I used the software available to convert 3d mkv to sbs the output file was low bitrate. I’m sure this was user error but I swear I had it set to the highest settings. 2) My projector isn’t native 4k, I’m not sure if it will even accept the 4k input without automatic downscaling.

So 4K SBS might be a good solution for most people… but I ended up buying a Z9X player for $230 on amazon. Haven’t tested it but it should play the MVC MKV files with frame-packed output. It’s as expensive as a region-free player, but I have a lot of archived media so I’d been eyeing one for a while anyways.

As far as the movie, very glad to have it! This is one that I saw in a pretty bad auditorium at a nearby AMC, and my experience has been much more positive in home viewing. It’s a downgrade from the recent Disney MCU films but still a good conversion and absolutely worth owning! Ranges from low-medium to high-medium throughout.

Vero4K+ is a less expensive option but its probably not as good as the Zidoo. Have some issues with some titles streaming via plex.

Seems like the 3d bluray is english only for both audio and subtitles so that may be a problem for nonenglish speakers. I suppose Sony/RSM really wanted the 3d only for Australia although 3d fanatics would figure out a way.

I find streaming a much better experience than playing back discs, used Plex to download the english subtitles for Chickenhare as that disc had english audio but not english subtitles.
