I did not know there was a third part to that piece of story... thanks!
your welcome. If you remember back, to an episode earlier this season we see that Locke gives RA this compass and tells him to visit him. He says what his name is.

So when RA visits him as a child, we see a knife, that same compass, and that comic book (that I don't recall, but I believe you). He asks him to choose, and he picks the knife. RA gets pissed. When we first saw that, we didn't know why. Now, we get it, sorta.

It means that even though Locke as a child doesn't know what Locke as an adult did in the past.

This third episode that is coming up will hopefully reveal the answers to us. It might even help in explaining time travel.

Also, a neat tidbit is that LOST writers had always intended there to be time-travel. It wasn't just tacked on. All plants have payoffs. They also noted that there wasn't one Easter Egg that has gone unnoticed.

Now that you and Marinemike have brought up some things, when Locke visited Walt on the mainland, did Walt have any idea he had guided him or Shannon/Sayid back on the island? I don't remember the dialogue very well but maybe there was something there. Walt's appearance to them was some sort of extension of himself IMO, so whether his physical self is aware of it or not is questionable.
Well, if we accept that Walt is semi-psychic, then maybe it's through his dreams that he speaks to these people. Only through his subconscious has he manipulated them. For him remembering, it would be as if he was just watching from above. Maybe?

The comic book is an old fashion type of comic with a cover about a "lost land" or something like that, but the cover has an island floating on the air above the ocean and a guy terrified by what he is seeing...

Another thing RA shows is a small bottle with sand, I assume from the island, Locke takes the bottle, the knife and is hesitant about the compass...

I assumed at first he did not have the memories form his adult self... BUT, how to explain the drawing he made of the smoke monster he has yet to see when he grows old????

Young Ben isn't dead. At this point in time, the island definitely has plans for his future. This is just something that shapes him into the man we know him to be.

I personally think that last weeks episode was entirely to show what kind of man Sayid is and why Ben chose him to do the killings in the future. Since he would remember Sayid shooting him he knows that he is ruthless enough to attempt to kill a boy who hasn't done anything to him yet.

nice point, I read it about 4 times and I feel like this is an important meeting between the two, didn't remember those detail....the fact that RA gets mad about young Locke choosing the knife could be possibly RA fore seeing the power stuggle to come between John and himself, symbolically a knife represents something entirely different then a compass

on another sidenote Sayid is not a killer(until last episode), everyone he has killed was never a direct judgement(on his part) kill, everyone before was considered CW crew and in the game so to speak, and didn't Ben have a conversation with Sayid telling him these killings would happen without him so it could be until now he was just a tool for ben, not a cold blooded killer
(although I do like the fact that Ben turned Sayid into the man Ben thought he was)

And why does RA help Locke to kill his Dad by giving him Sawyers folder? Did he want Ben out of the picture?

DESMOND is the key?...
So where is he at right now..Prob going to find a bloody up Penny and want to go back to the Island to find Ben. Ms Hawkings will be more than happy to show him how to get there. I bet by boat of course, maybe when he finds the Island he will be back to Time flashing because his Constant is now dead! Witch means he can change things. What if when he is time skipping he goes to Widmore because they want Penny to be alive in the future and Widmore and Desmond form the "freighter of mercenaries to capture Ben. This will explain how Naomi acquired the picture of Desmond and Penny. Desmond gave it Widmore to give to her. They will tell Naomi to pretend that the freighter was sent by Penny because at that time when Desmond is on the island, Desmond won't trust Widmore because he won't know that he and Widmore become allies in the future

Desmond is not unstuck in time, his mind is. The timeline is specific and set. Whatever happens happened. You cannot change things.

If Penny is dead nothing will change that fact.

I feel like Penny beat the shit out of Ben. I have a feeling we are supposed to think she's dead. Although, the writer's do like to kill off the ones our character's love most.

Hurley's girl gets shot. Sayyid's lady is killed... twice (he was with Shannon on the island). So if Desmond's wife is dead... I will be imminently pissed. Of course, like dude above said. If she's dead, then so will Desmond be because of her being his constant. Unless his kid becomes his constant...

And where the hell is Locke? I think we need to get back to him.

And better yet, where the FRACK are Bernard and Rose? In the past or future? or Present? Or what? Throwing a few back with Jacob?

Every episode I agree more and more with the theory that Rose and Bernard are in the cave.

You wonder what happened to them. Unless they died, they're hanging out in 1977 somewhere.

So, are they with the others? Or dead? Not like you can answer. But I feel like the writers don't really have a story for them at the moment. It just seems like no one even is concerned about what happened to them. You know?

I get the wanting to adopt motive that makes sense, the part I don't get is why does everyone else care and help out, to do some pretty bad things for what....to be a parent? that I don't get, to me it seems like they are more interested in possessing or controlling the child then to raising a child and having a family, I mean there already in paradise how much more can you want...
I think you are over thinking it. What happens to a society that does not have fresh blood? people age, grow old and die. No children (or younger people) means that it is the last generation and will soon be gone. Not only that but with time there will be fewer people and they will be old and will be able to do less, so life will be hell for the last few elderly who will not be able to support themselves. It would have nothing to do with wanting to have kids or being a parent, but all to do about survival.

I don't think I have seen theory #2 before on this thread, but I may have missed it.
I posted something similar some time ago https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1372 and someone else a bit later (based on some book or something)

Quote:
Your theory three is similar to my own theory of a group of physicists playing a game over the internet
I think the "it is some sort of dream/game/limbo..." theory was very popular early on when odd things like polar bears, hatches, people and animals that should not be there appeared with no explanations

Quote:
ouch! I wasted six years for that
I doubt it is that, but it is all in the execution, I think if it is a Deus ex machina approach, then yes it could be annoying (i.e. in the last minutes of the last episode out of the blue something happens and we are told/shown it was not real)

I suspect a time loop, and have since the food drops began. No one saw a plane because the plane hadn't flown over the island since the late 1970's.

It's possible, but I'd be sort of sad if that was them in the cave. Anyways, it is rumored that
[Show spoiler]Rose and Bernard will be back in the finale
, and I hope that's the case.

I also like your last theory. When Jacob said to John "HELP ME," what the producers purposely left out for the time being was "HELP ME SCORE SOME BEERS BRO." It will leave us speechless until the premier of season 6.
