Weird, I'm signed up to their mailing list, and I clicked to subscribe again on the store page when they announced pre-orders were starting today, just in case, and I'm yet to receive an email notification (it's not on my SPAM folder either).

I managed to place an order early, because I was checking their website around the time that Captain Kronos pre-orders last started, and saw pre-orders start.

"Fun" fact. My order is... 30 or so numbers AFTER yours.
You see, I was there early, and as soon as the store changed to make the item available, I was there. But, I kept adding and removing titles to get free shipping, so my order was placed after yours.

Sadly, I think you missed out on the freebies due to the "quirk" I mentioned, and you were surely one of the first 50 to place an order.

Yeah, I was going to mention they have free shipping above a certain amount.
I noticed this by "mistake" (I was messing with my cart, and removed the promo code for the 2 freebies, and it changed my amount to over 100€, and it was giving me free express shipping through DHL), so I ended up ordering a couple more things to reach the free shipping threshold (their latest title, Doctor Jekyll, plus a piece of merchandise).

Their loss as will now wait for HMV to list and get 20% off there plus free postage. Something Hammer charge £5 for.

I just can't understand the boutique labels not offering discounts and free postage on any order. The dealer price they must have to give HMV and Amazon will be miles less than anything it would cost them selling themselves. Surely they want direct sales rather than pushing you to go elsewhere.
You make a very good point. As far as I know, only Network did free postage on all orders. I bought directly from Hammer and for my extra £15, over the HMV price with the discount code, I got the special Hammer/Kronos outer packaging and the do gooder feel by buying direct.

For those that received an email notification about the pre-orders, what did it say about the "freebies" (in particular the press book)?

thank you

Well, I bit the bullet and got both for $110 w/free shipping. I already have the US Shout version of Kronos, which I will now sell...

Enjoy!
Well, I don't know about Four Sided Triangle (it still isn't out, of course), but I'm sure once you take a look at the Captain Kronos boxset you won't regret your purchase.
It's truly one of the most impressive releases I own, across all formats.

Hopefully you will be able to get some decent money on the Shout release, to soften the blow.

Well being the Jack the Ripper (books & films) completist that I am, as well as being a lifelong Hammer Films nut, I'd bloody love to see this happen. Make it so, Hammer!

I waited absolutely donkey's years to see this film, after my curiosity was peaked by the mention of it in the book "The Hammer Story". And for many years, it was nigh on impossible to see, rarer than hen's teeth haha.

I finally saw it recently thanks to a showing on the truly fabulous, Talking Pictures TV. It's not the best ever film on the subject, tbf. And yes, visually, it could definitely do with a spit & polish, spruce up. But it's still an interesting watch. What I'd call, a little hidden gem, short and sweet.

And any vintage British film featuring an appearance from a young Charles Hawtrey has gotta be worth a look, surely .

Facsimile reproductions of the UK and US pressbooks and a double-sided poster.

These are included in the set anyway, so how are the so called freebies any different to these?

Ditto, glad to see it but the picture and sound quality left a lot to be desired. These old movies can be hard to watch in older transfers, and as Indicator recently proved with their Tod Slaughter set, these old British movies deserve to be look at with fresh eyes when beautifully restored.

Yes, Hawtrey was a surprise and in a relatively straight role! If you’ll pardon the unintended pun.

A random question, but the limited edition "art print" that they sent with the first 250 orders of Captain Kronos is this exact item, right:
https://hammerfilms.com/products/cap...n-small-poster

No differences to that (in terms of size, artwork, ...)?

I ask because I was supposed to get one, but had problems with my local customs about this poster (who knew it would be so hard to clear a simple free poster; but apparently, due to a lack of invoice, it is ), and they returned my "freebie" back to Hammer, so I ended up ordering one now to include in my Four Sided Triangle order.

thank you

Truth! Haha .

Yes, that (exceptional) Tod Slaughter collection is imo, one of the absolute crown jewels / highlights of their collection, so far. And they always do great work .

I grew up with those really ropey & battered VHS looking, versions of those films. So to see the massive improvement that Indicator did with that set was satisfying indeed. I actually appreciated and enjoyed the films, so much more than I had previously.

It was a revelation that set, a chef's kiss of a LE. It's easily one of the best classic horror releases on physical media, in recent memory and it's one of my favourites .

Wasn't the poster a full size quad, whereas this one is much smaller?

The whole invoice thing is probably to do with import taxes, they have to have some evidence that the taxes have been pre-paid. It's a nightmare situation how the whole system works now, it's not surprising that a lot of places aren't sending overseas as a result of the complicated nature of it.
I was just looking at a nice Space Invaders poster available from Australia, but the seller is one of the ones who won't ship to the UK anymore since the import/export tax system changed.

If I'm not mistaken, the first 25 or 50 orders of Kronos indeed got a full size quad poster, and the first 250 orders got an "art print".
I was one of the first 250 orders, and the "freebie" I was supposed to get is a smaller art print.

I'm hoping it's the one I linked to.
I ended up ordering one, to make up for the "lost" freebie.

That’s The Four Sided Triangle limited edition up at HMV. Applying our sacred code, it’s £28

Yep. First 10 (I was one) got a full sized quad on really high quality paper, almost textured. And also got - as the next 240 did - a regular poster, medium sized. Standard cheapo poster quality.

The second poster is this one (same size and image), right ?

I'm trying to "replace" the freebie I didn't end up getting, thanks to customs.

thank you

That is quite a saving given that the standard shipping option would also be free for that price.

It's very, very tempting going down the HMV route, not to mention it also supports an independent physical seller, yet I think I will buy direct from Hammer. I am currently not buying much in the way of physical media as there is very little that appeals to me, so at the moment the hobby/interest is not costing me much.

HMV have got my sale.

Not just the free postage and cash saving which are massive for me in my current situation but also how scarce the freebies are with Hammer.

Because I’m at work I can get on my phone to order until 12pm the earliest we can take lunch. For both Kronos and Triangle all the freebies had gone by then. If they want sales themselves they need to offer in much larger quantities to get sales. Make it all pre-orders get them or if that’s too many then all sales in the first day or so a titles on sale. Don’t just restrict to a handful of customers.

Or make it something worthwhile. With Kronos they gave me the 20% voucher but that’s worthless as you can’t use on pre-orders. Okay I could wait until Triangle released but then they would still charge me £5 postage when HMV don’t.

Anyway it’s their loss they are losing a significant chunk of possible revenue to HMV. HMV will be paying them well below the 20% discount as they need to cover their overheads and postage costs as well.

Interesting, but gee I hope Hammer will give us a Quatermass box next. Save the really obscure stuff for its own box/collection.
