I like Yvonne Craig...spoke to her and got her autograph last year.

But lets be realistic. She only appeared in about 26 episodes which is little more than 20% of the series. And those episodes were in the last and declining season of Batman. The cold, hard truth is that she was a minor character. Batgirl was an attempt at a quick fix to stem flagging interest in the show.

I would have liked to have seen the Batgirl pilot/presentation included. And if they had added more content with Yvonne Craig, I'd be happy with it. But I don't feel that we are missing anything and I certainly don't think she got "shafted".

Lots of TV shows try to add gimicky characters to boost flagging ratings. Yvonne Craig was a very hot chick in sexy costume. I like hot chicks in sexy costumes. However, in the short and storied history of the Batman TV show, the lovely Yvonne Craig is but an interesting footnote to the last season.

Maybe so, but part of the nostalgia I feel for this series stems from the fact that Yvonne Craig was my first childhood celebrity crush. No lie. I would sit there in front of the television set waiting to see if the opening credits would have her in it, and I needed that animated Batcycle to drive by the Batmobile to confirm it, then I'd be sure to watch for her in the episode. So, Batgirl's appearances are just as important as the rest of the series to me.

I think she added so much to the show, and even with the ridiculous sets, I think the third season was the best.

I wonder if she was added to the show to offset the less attractve Catwoman? Newmar was by far the hottest of the three cat women.

Holy Moly Batman!

I just got a call from my brother telling me to check my email because he got me a surprise. The email was an order confirmation for the Hot Toys Adam West Batman.

He must want something really bad. I have a feeling he is moving again.

Just preordered the UK release too!
I would rather purchase in my own country as long as the price is comparable.
We will see what happens in the forthcoming months.

Except now Studios/Retailers charge extra for Bonus features and extras.

Pretty sure they charge on dispatch, have just switched my order to them as from past experience they ship early and have been customs friendly so should save about £40 compared to Amazon.

I suppose we'll never know, but Yvonne Craig is one of the best things about the show for me. Agree about Julie Newmar though, she was definitely the hottest and best Catwoman of the three.

I take it this is the official UK release then? Do you think it'll be the exact same as the US Set?

Why does it say November 10th is the release date? You get it an entire day earlier? Not fair!

but to be fair they let me pay in 3 payments :P

why would i pay so much for a figure but not the actual show?

Are Adam West Naked, Batmania, Adventures, and Return to the Batcave worthwhile extras or must haves? Or are they more for die hard fans?
Yeah, mostly for "die hards" - especially at the prices they are gong for now! LOL. Holy Batmania is $150 on Amazon right now, hah. I would expect to see them all re-released this fall at normal prices to go with this release.

ADAM WEST NAKED - Hey, if you want his autograph, it's not a bad buy at $50 on his website. The non-autographed edition is $30. It's two discs of him going through each episode and sharing an anecdote or two about the show. It's very hokey and strange, it's done as a home movie practically, with odd humor and such. I love it, but it's really something that would have lambasted if they had put on this set anyway.

Holy Batmania - Is four docs (I forget the source, I think they are Biography episodes) - it's been awhile since I watched them, but it's mostly TV content. I believe this is the one that also has the "Batmania" TV marathon wrap-arounds with footage of Ward, West, Gorshin, etc. they filmed for the marathon they were showing around Batman '89 time.

Batmania - A 45-minute doc that is interesting, it's been forever since I watched it (I don't even think I have the DVD, though I used to have it on VHS) - but it's from the 80's and kind of fluffy (like a lot of this stuff, it was originally made to cash in on Batman '89).

Return to the Batcave - Is another super-oddity - the actual reenactments of the making of the show are actually decently good, the wrap-arounds with Adam and Burt are kind of embarrassing and Holy Hokey - but since I love them I find them charming nonetheless.

Legends of the Superheroes - This one I forgot to mention, it's a Warner Archive release and only $10, it's...it's the Star Wars Holiday Special of the Batman franchise, LOL.

For the most part, they all are ridiculously priced - for what they are, and in general. I wouldn't tell anyone to run out and buy them - but like I said I am sure this will all be re-released in due to time and when it's available for $10, I can recommend most of it as amusing viewing. I'm sure in the meantime most of this is on YouTube.

There looks like plenty of doc content on these Blu-rays - and things like the Holy Batmania disc are neat, but the focus on the actors themselves (Julie Newmar's has a segment about Batman, but spends more time on the rest of her life, etc.). There just isn't a lot of behind the scenes stuff that has been dragged up in the last 50 years (in spite a lot of folks insisting there is all this "missing" stuff from this set that mysteriously hasn't surfaced in half a century of one of the most popular "cult" shows of all time, that has been resurrected more than once).

With this being a limited numbered edition in various parts of the world and being supposedly region free we will end up with identical numbered copies

Or will the limited numbered edition mean 1 - x for US market and x - 1000 for the uk market
