Pretty much the same can be said of Bumblebee and that had an estimated budget of up to $135 mil. The lowest estimate is just over 100mil.

Bumblebee imagine will or did have more visual effects than the upcoming GB.

- Outside of star cameo's, the film has no major stars with Paul Rudd.
- Jason Reitman is a character-based film director, visual effects driven films are outside of his experience.
- Sony weren't going to make a 3rd GB film using the original cast. This film came about for a reason, a reason that meant not spending the best part of two-thirds of the budget of GB2016 on!
Ivan had never directed an effects driven movie before either.

It's hard to see how the movie will connect sufficiently with the first two movies without the requisite number of ghosts. Which means effects. Which means money.

There is no way this film is going to be anywhere near the scale of GB1 or 2 in terms of action; it's setting in small-town America is there for a reason; perhaps the phrase 'Less is more' is apt for this production...

You're still simply speculating and using flawed logic. I'm not saying your instincts are completely wrong about it. t won't be on the scale of the 2016 film and what was left on the cutting room floor of that movie. But you're kidding yourself if you think the studio isn't going to go "I think we better see some ghost busting in this movie". That means dough. And the ghosts don't care how expensive you think that ought to be.

This is purely assumption though based on no actual evidence.

You could argue that the trailer is evidence, BUT, that's not the entire movie and they are more than likely saving a ton of special effects from the audience until it releases, or at least until a new trailer releases.

I personally hope there's as much if not more effects than Bumblebee, but only time can truly tell with that.

Seems like another delay might not be out of the question. This is literally a few movie delays away from becoming the next big release.

Something that’s not been discussed in the context of the retrospective gentrification of the 80s Ghostbuster movies, and its imminent realisation in the new movie - Louis Tully.

I know it was toyed with but Louis is not making a comeback, largely due to Moranis thinking it’s a bad idea. Can you imagine it though? I’m sure some commentators with a certain idea of what Afterlife will deliver and what it will confirm for them about the franchise, would plotz with embarrassment if Tully showed up in his fully absurd glory.

Moranis’s appearance in the first two movies is the most conspicuous artefact that reveals Ghostbusters roots in broad, sketch comedy sensibilities. And puts another nail into the coffin of the revisionist idea that Ghostbusters was some carefully curated universe of the supernatural with some humour involved.

In an ideal world, GBIII in 2020 is centred around Louis and Janine’s kid, The Last Ghostbuster.

I'm not going to recap the whole thread for you, dud.

And for anyone else that's similarly in the dark and out of the loop, I'm obviously not talking to you either. So take off, eh.

So has this been pushed to 2022 yet? Seems to be the new trend as of late.

With other movies shifting, it is inevitable that this will follow. It's only a matter of time for the official confirmation, along with WW84 as well. Don't be expecting any of the movies you want to see to come out any time soon.

Considering Moranis probably isn't going to be in Ghostbusters Afterlife, then none. If a trailer reveals him to be in it, or news comes out that he is definitely reprising his role, then I'll speculate.

Yeah. I was speaking hypothetically. There's been plenty of opinions shared about what GB is or should be. But no consideration of how, hypothetically, Tully would fit into those opinions.

Not too bad, but nothing will ever top the Ernest Scared Stupid version.
