They've been airing it with those logos for years. I really wonder what is taking Criterion so long to release it.

I don’t suppose Criterion would send a replacement case for a B&N order? My copy of Come and See arrived with a hole jabbed in it. The disc is undamaged as far as I can tell, so I could live with it either way.

If you do not have the OOP TT releases, I would recommend Bunny Lake is Missing, Experiment in Terror, 10 Rillington Place and Hardcore in terms of titles no longer available in the US.

Thanks! I think if I get them Hardcore will definitely be one. I'm still debating... it costs $55 with shipping for the 3/30 pound deal for me and after spending over $200 on B&N and Warner Archive purchases the past week I'm like eeeehhh should I?

Looking at the discs they almost seem to look like blank discs. Does anyone know who I should contact about this?
If you can, try it on a different bluray player as well to make sure it's the disc, and not the player. Not sure what player you have, but I've had some random playback issues with my Sony player before that involved factory reset for some reason

When does the B+N sale end again?

Re: 'bronzing'. How widespread was this problem exactly?

If you want to save rather than spend right now, they should have a bigger site wide sale around September/October when most of their LEs (booklet, scanavo case) should be 10 pounds each and the non-LEs (which are currently in the 3 for 30 deal) should be 9 pounds each.

August 2nd.

Info on "bronzing" and the potentially affected titles:

https://www.criterion.com/current/po...efective-discs

Notice that the list increased from seven to ten titles.

Edit:

Also, check out this post for visual examples:

Thanks.

I first read about the problem on here years ago, so I'm aware of what titles were impacted, but I'm curious as to whether it was really as big of a problem as some made it out to be.

My copy of Walkabout looks like it might be in the process of 'bronzing', but that could just be my eyesight.

It wouldn't surprise me if they would since they're pretty closely affiliated with the B&N sale. Can't hurt to ask -- just let them know about a new case and case art if needed

I have all the titles they listed from the original run and only 2 needed replaced (Walkabout was one of them). I probably need to go through those discs on the official and unofficial list of titles again. I think even the longer list was only 30-40 titles. and many of those may have issues other than the bronzing issues.

I did recently find my original of The Lady Vanishes won't play, but the copy in the Hitchcock boxset is fine so I've not been overly rushed to do anything.

An incredibly eclectic and unique snapshot of late 60s California by an outsider looking in, for lack of a better term.
Zabriskie Point also has a very unique soundtrack as well.

Pink Floyd contributed the most music to that movie and one can hear a lot of their early psychedelic influences in their music.

I was going to include that in my top 100 list of soundtracks but it was just a bit "too far out there" for me.

The life story of the lead actor, Mark Frechette, would itself make an interesting movie. Fascinating like a train wreck, and just as tragic.

I opened my copy of Rebecca to find the hub cracked for disc two. luckily it wasn't floating in the case, but it doesn't fit snugly on the hub as it should.

I contacted Criterion, asking if they could send me a blank replacement two-disc case, and they said no, but once they are back to full operations, they could send me a replacement case+art for $5. They then recommended I go through Barnes and Noble to try for an exchange.

I honestly found this customer service to be pretty disappointing. Has anyone gone to BN with damaged cases before and had success exchanging?

Yes. I've exchanged online and instore purchases for undamaged merch -- of course dependent on teh store having stock. I've done a repurchase online for an OOS item and return damages item in store.

Online I'm sure you could do a reshipment/return, but i can't remember how shipping works.

Criterion's shipment of Come and See will be on hold as my order was paired with an August title. They're not going to send it to me until the latter gets released apparently.

It sucks to see copies at my local B&N during this current 50% sale and not taking one home now, but I can wait.

Something I have done in the past is, if I find a undamaged copy in-store, I would buy the in-store copy and then return the damaged copy using with the same receipt. I keep the damaged copy still sealed so they will accept the return.

If you can see the damage that's always a good idea. Some damage isn't noticeable until it's opened, but open/damaged item exchange is still allowed just like at Best Buy.

If it's during the sale and the prices are the same, then no problem -- some stores do that as a return/new purchase, others seem to do a direct exchange.
The Re-purchase isn't possible if you happen to notice the damage after the sale is over, but during the return period. In that situation processing it as a exchange is the only way to do it. I'm still not 100% clear if the std return period is 15 or 30 days for everyone now, just for members, or something else -- I think it's 30 days for everyone, but the website, returns slips, and register receipts don't always say the same thing.

Why is that disappointing? It's not Criterion's fault, it's B&N's, and you should be going to them to get it replaced. I would have thought that was common sense.
