The UK X-Men trilogy set is apparently missing:
![]() I'm shocked! This must me a first for Fox, leaving out features on a US release that are included on the UK version! ![]() Can any Americans with the US set please confirm that the Picture-in-Picture mode and In-Feature Photo Gallery are definitely NOT on the US version? Also are there any other differences that I'm not aware of? ![]() One last thing! Some of the other European versions (Dutch? French?) of the trilogy reportedly don't have DTS HD MA English audio, only DTS HD HR! Fox are so bloody weird! ![]() **Update!! The UK trilogy does appear to have D-Box motion codes according to the info on the back of the box for the UK version!!** Last edited by Kuros; 06-01-2009 at 10:32 AM. Reason: Added info on D-Box codes and bitrate differences. |

Still, I don't get why the whole 'watch extras as you watch the film' thing is worth checking out. There are enough interviews etc on the discs already, I doubt much more insight is shown.

I've been watching it on Amazon UK since it was released and its been at a steady £32.98, which after VAT is subtracted and S&H is added comes to £31.76. At the current exchange rate that's $50.41 shipped which is the cheapest I've seen so far.

This was brought up in the "official" X-men Trilogy thread as reviews of both started to surface and is the reason I returned my pre-ordered Canadian version (same as US) and ordered the UK set.
Digital copies can be nice, but HD extras and PiP commentary are a big + in my opinion. The UK version also ended up being cheaper too. Only thing I don't like is the packaging as I prefer separates, but that's something I can live with or easily change. Also, the X3 encode on the US set isn't simply recycled from the original release since it's AVC and the original was MPEG2 I believe. Don't know how different they look, but I though I saw some reviews that said the new encode looked slightly better |

The original U.S. X-Men 3 Blu-ray was an AVC encode. It was one of the first AVC encodes Fox released.
