Default bda will have an announcement to make in early september

watch out, someone has passed me info that bda will have an important announcement to make in 2 trade shows in september. That is in in Berlin, Germany http://www.ifa-berlin.de/
and the other is CEDIA EXPO 2005 in Indianapolis
http://www.cedia.net/expo/

I have no concrete info like links or anything official yet but BDA did set up booths at these locations where they'll showcase the latest gear and I am told they have already announced a press conference. I can only guess and hope that they'll announce some hard dates for the bd rollout

Is it early September yet??? erdega79 posted an excellent link with interviews with studio heads at CEDIA. The way they were talking DRM still hasn't been sorted, nor packaging etc. this was reading between the lines as their standard answer was the technical people know more about that...

I hope the blu ray players / recorders that were displayed look nothing like the production units.

I have a horrible feeling we are going to be waiting for some time before we get our new toys. Hopefully they will get it right.

I thiink we may have a new race on our hands - who can delay the longest. erdega79 you are at least correct and you were smart enough not to mention which year!

Obviously I was talking about IFA and CEDIA trade shows. Indeed there were many intros to newer products and many talking heads talking the talk but again nothing specific about dates .

My comment was tongue in cheek. It seems that standards for many facets of Blu Ray are yet undecided. If anything the shows (viewed from the internet) were a big disappointment. I suspect it will be closer to this time next year before the release into stores.

Got same opinion here.

Its about time they'll give clear (technical) information on the specs and finish their standards for BD and the content on it.

We are heading towards 2006.. The booking year 2006 has already begun so... its about time.
